We're living in Taiwan, won't be back for vacation til June. Computer stuff is more expensive in Taiwan, even Taiwanese brands like Acer.

ASUS seems to price fix so discounts always match in Taiwan, but Acer doesn't.

I just ordered the hp pavillion plus 14 from Costco for 700, but it looks like these have similar specs. Any reason why this one might be better?

It doesn't seem like it to me. This one has a fingerprint reader and is about 0.4 pounds lighter, so that's something. But the Costco one has a slightly better webcam and wireless card and is $100 lighter :p

Personally I'd pay $100 for the fingerprint and 0.4 pounds, but I'm a freak.

Both USB-C ports are USB4, by the way. I have seen multiple times that Acer oes not specify USB-C generation for AM laptops in their product specification properly. Anyway, if you go to the Features Tab an then scroll down to the bottom and check The Connectivity section, you can see the below details: -

Boasting 2 USB Type C (USB 4) ports, HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 6E3, and a MicroSD slot, the Swift Go has all the essential connections to keep your productivity powered on!

This has USB4 40 Gbps vs USB 3.2 gen 2 10 Gbps port on HP. So, a lot fo external TB3/TB4 accessories can be used with this model, like an external GPU dock. Also, Pavilion Plus 14 model just has a single memory slot and from the reviews I have seen, it is pretty conservative when it comes to CPU Power, resulting slightly lower performance.
This Acer, at least from the images, looks like having two Fan for cooling.

May I ask people's opinions on this vs the Asus 14x that goes on sale for $699 every so often at Best Buy? Similar size and specs, but seems like this one is more upgradeable? Please advise, thanks much.

Thanks everyone who helped with the comparison, I'll be keeping the HP, but if I hadn't already ordered it I would consider this one instead. There are so many little details when it comes to computers that seem similar on the surface. The better USB ports and weight are the most important differences to me, then the fans, and lastly the ssd slot and fingerprint reader. Thanks slick dealers.

This is 2x the GPU power of the ASUS which is still using Intel's outdated Iris Xe. I'd look for Intel ARC or AMD 780M.

Battery should be atleast 70Wh. Asus Zenbook has 75 Wh battery.
