Why the heck would you ever consider giving this company your money if given a choice?
Do people have amnesia of how LG handled that debacle? And then icing on cake was all of their sneaky ways they slipped in forced arbitration on their customers?
For those in here mocking other posters concerned about this fridge... they have every right to be concerned and of no fault of their own. LG imploded the trust in the brand. Why the heck would you take LG's side and call people morons for asking questions?
- LG Compressor issues. You can verify yourself on the spec sheet this no longer has the problematic "new" style compressor that LG had issues with. It's back to a more traditional style.
- Lack of ice in door. For us this hasn't been a big problem since water is already chilled. It's not worth the issues that the refrigerator/ice combo come with.
- This thing is cavernous. Both because there's no wasted space to an ice maker in the refrigerator, but also it being the largest you can buy, our cramped fridge became kind of empty looking when we swapped to this.
- Water in the door hinge area. I was worried about energy loss but after doing some math on the energy loss standing with the door open getting water it's, at maximum, a few dollars per year. The majority of the energy is stored in the temperature of the items inside and not the air itself.
- Costco Delivery. Was genuinely A+. No nicks, no issues except they were 15 min outside their delivery window.
Edit-
- A bonus I found out later is this actually does have WiFi capability. It lets you customize chimes, set and view temperature, enable Ice Plus, Economic Care and Smart Air (supposedly this analyzes your usage and does some pre-cooling type stuff to optimize energy savings), Sabbath Mode, Energy Saver, Light customization.

Straight trash
Defects happen. So do bad designs. There is an acceptable way to handle both, then there is the LG way.
Even if this fridge had the "new" new compressor that fixes the previous issues, why would anyone in their right mind give their money to this company when given a choice? I sure as heck won't.
With regards to record, in my personal experience and in the experiences with my nearly three dozen tenants, this is where we generally find the best successes with appliances:
Washer/Dryer --> GE (our older generation Kenmore rebranded Whirlpools and older Whirlpools have been the absolutely best, but you would need to buy used of course). If you have the budget, then Speed Queen.
Fridge --> GE
Stove --> GE
Dishwasher --> Whirlpool/Maytag/KitchenAid
From our experiences, Whirlpool and related brands have the best serviceability and parts cost. GE parts tend to be more expensive, and not as widely available across all models. And I'm talking about both OEM and aftermarket non-OEM...seems there is way more aftermarket support for Whirlpool and related brands than GE, when dealing with trying to repair, say an older appliance. Whirlpool is bigger, so that is expected.

How did you verify the part?
Q: does this model fix the compressor problem that LG models had?LBPR12 DAYS AGO

A: Hey there. This LG refrigerator features a smart inverter compressor instead of a linear compressor. Additional information can be found on the product page.^ DiegoLG Digital Team9 DAYS AGO
