Please note the PC in the OP doesn't have a Thunderbolt port, and as such can't be used with an eGPU.

I usually have hit or miss luck with Minisforum products but the NAD9 is actually excellent for me. I have two in a home lab hosting Proxmox virtual machines. They are nearly silent both under load and not under load (though beware it is because the thermal limits are set a little low in the BIOS, around 50W continuous. It can be adjusted as well as the fan curve if you want more noise and higher sustained performance).

I've not had any sudden shutdowns or other problems that commonly plague Minisforum machines.

could be a home lab server, if the 64GB memory limit is sufficient for one's needs.

Looks like a decent box, I have a min-pc (14th gen i5) for my new plex box. Working great and cost $100 more.

Is there any space savings of this plus a egpu vs a sfx computer. It seems like your paying extra for a egpu enclosure and stuck on a Intel platform for thunderbolt.

I was wondering the same but for some of those dell refurb xeon towers. They have a 44% off sale right now and i think one with pretty decent specs (and a non integrated GPU) priced out to ~375. Obviously the power consumption would be higher, but im curious about everyones thoughts.

I think in this case if you wanted to use an egpu, you'd want a m.2 to PCI-e adapter or m.2 to oculink

You would have to build your own enclosure which may be a barrier to entry for some.

Something like this would work out pretty well too: https://www.gpd.hk/gpdg1graphics
