Lenovo has the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X 12GB GDDR6X OC Graphics Card on sale for $526.49 (before any additional discounts) after applying the coupon codes "BUYMORELENOVO" and "EXTRA5" in cart (don't include the quotation marks). Simply add the 4070 to cart and copy and paste the two coupon codes one after the other into the box on the left of the cart which says "Enter eCoupon Code". Shipping is free.

Lenovo offers an additional 5% id.me discount for military, students, first responders, medical professionals, seniors, etc. which should stack with this deal, or at least has in the past from personal experience. There are also occasionally credit card offers for Lenovo, though I don't know if any are running right now. It should be possible to get this card for substantially below $500. I personally managed to get this exact model of 4070 from Lenovo down to ~$445 before tax over half a year ago.

It's worth noting the msi ventus 4070 (at least the initial production runs, I have no clue if msi eventually decided to add thermal pads) is known to have a couple of uncooled vrms which can reach temperatures of up to 95C under full load. This is within spec and should not cause any issues, though theoretically longevity could be affected. A variety of reviews indicate the msi ventus 4070 performs in line with other 4070 models. The 4070 also greatly benefits from undervolting, so realistically you shouldn't be running this card at 200w to begin with. That being said, I can understand some people being leery of those vrm temps, so I wanted to make sure it was mentioned. After purchasing this exact model there have been no issues with it whatsoever in over half a year of use, but obviously that's just the card I got so ymmv.

The 4070 super is around 15% faster on average compared to the 4070 and goes on sale for ~$580, so paying $526.49 for a 4070 isn't very compelling. However, depending on the additional discounts you stack, you can get this 4070 from lenovo for substantially cheaper and it becomes a very good deal.

A certain popular CB site is offering 10% CB for purchases from lenovo.com.

Still a meh deal, even after all of the mentioned discounts. Regular, non super model with the worst cooling compared to other 4070's. The memory cooling is completely missing

My guess is with the Supers out now these non supers will continue to depreciate. Hard to say when you should hold out until though. Tough time to upgrade GPU imo currently. With Supers out and and amd rabbit editions and such coupled with the 50xx series coming...

If you can discount it down to $450 like the OP its a good deal. Not smoking but good. Truth is this is the new 3060, don't be fooled by Nvidias naming scheme

I just want a mid-high tier card without it sounding like a jet engine when I'm playing. Or at least whine down when the game is done. I'll upvote any non-gigabyte card

4070 Ti is potentially the hotter buy if you have Amex offer Lenovo $750-100. There is a popular CB site offering 10x as well. You should be able to net a 4070 Ti under $600 which is pretty sweet.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Pny 4070 Super from Dell goes for $530 with the sata cable deal posted here. It was still going in and out of stock for brief periods, so no harm in checking back. Looking at the benchmarks and considering the little price diff between 4070 & 4070s, it doesn't make sense to go with 4070 right now

this only good for sub 450 with the performance you are getting and keeping you at 1440p resolution; it doesnt have enough CUDA for most of nvidias exclusive suite of RT features to perform well; 4070ti is on sale often if you can still find for EOL and faster than 4070super

This.

12GB is the minimum for 1080p nowadays. 4070 is still about $150-200 overpriced for what it is. 7800 XT 16GB for $480 is faster and will age better.

Only 7 months to go till next gen. Wait if you can folks.
This isn't quite true. I game exclusively at 1080p with a 3060ti 8gb card and no game pushes past the 8gb vram usage even on ultra settings. I play BF2042, Cyber Punk, Alan Wake 2, Forza Horizon 2 all at ultra settings with the only caveat being I keep ray tracing off but that's pretty much a given.

If you wanna future proof for like 4 years out, then yeah you probably want a 16gb card.

The fact you can't play with RT due to lacking VRAM is still an issue worth calling out. $500+ is a lot for a card. Folks thought 8GB was enough for 3070/3070 Ti and those cards didn't survive even one generation. 12GB could see a similar fate within another year or two.

IMO anything over $500 should at least be able to guarantee 1440p in 2024 but to each their own. I like to think next-gen cards will solve the major issues with the 40 series.

The reason for no RT on lower cards isn't about RAM, they could have a million gb of ram and it wouldn't change performance any.

The ram issue is overblown because in order for it to matter, the settings required for the card to be over its ram limit would have to otherwise be playable if it DID have the amount of ram, and that is almost never the case.

Went from a 3080 EVGA XC3 to a Hellhound 7800xt and I haven't looked back, given I also did a platform upgrade from 3950x to 7700x. DDR5 and AMD 5000 are insanely fast. I mostly do e-sports title too so I don't notice too much and I couldn't honestly care less for ray traycing either.

Wasn't ram an issue for resolution, regardless of RT?

I could be wrong, though, it's been awhile since I read up on it.
