Unless you only think this tool is just for removing lug nuts.
Outside of cars, what are some primary uses for impact wrenches, anyway? I'm highly tempted since I'm deep in the Ridgid battery system, but not sure what I'll really use it for outside of rare special cases I could just use regular wrenches for

Driving lags or maybe appliance work (I had to use an impact wrench to remove a pulley bolt in a clothes-dryer). That said, a lot of impact drivers (as opposed to wrenches) are capable of driving lag or low-torque bolts, might be a better option if you never work on cars/equipment. They are typically lighter and cheaper and can do double-duty driving regular screws.

Thanks, figured as much, just about every starter combo kit comes with impact driver already so I have one which so far I've only used as a screwdriver

Impact driver is generally for driving screws or lag bolts. I've used small impact driver also for removing a lot of vehicle bolts, you'd be surprised how effective they are.

Impact wrench, you break out when the impact driver can't do the job. It's a tool the average person won't use often, but when you need it you will be thankful you have it. Definitely not a must have unless you are frequently doing suspension work on your vehicles or have a specific need (or profession) which requires it. A breaker bar and a long pipe can be just as effective for the occasional stubborn bolt that can't be moved with impact driver.

i use them if Im doing a lot of fence work, driving large amount of lag screws into the cross members is extremely quick. I also use one for lowering and raising my rv stabilizers.

For your stated use, either this one or the mid torque you purchased will be plenty.
Depends; I had to use the Ridgid hi-torque on max setting to get the shock bolts out of my minivan....after every other tool had failed (including pneumatic, penetrating oil, etc....heat wasn't an option due to proximity to other sensitive parts). Even then it took a few tries.
