16 percent of the ratings are 1 star, and seem to be indicating the laptop had issues quickly after this 90 day warranty ended.
Still has 4 stars and is decently rated, but just thought this may be worth noting.
Looks like the RAM is soldiered and not upgradeable.

not bad for the price but 8gb ram really killed it

Very basic laptop today, but seems to be priced appropriately. Tempted to grab one as an iPad replacement.

Assuming you're using this for light productivity/web/streaming/whatnot the cheaper ($229) Laptop 2 for 70 bucks less may be a better value. The 8th gen i5 isn't that much slower in real world use, only other sacrifice is 128gb instead of 256 but tbh I'd replace either cheap as SSDs are now (dunno if these take a 2230 or 2280, 2230s are slightly less plentiful/cheap but they're coming out pretty fast due to all the 7" handhelds etc)

I'd grab a Dell 7200/7210/5290 over this, it can actually convert to tablet (this is the surface laptop not surface tablet), is generally cheaper, and is available with better spec (particularly 16gb of ram models are plentiful). Dell outlet seems to be dead and gone on tablets (there were some great deals recently) but there are a ton of these retired from corporate fleets that tried and gave up on the idea or whatever and they don't have the cachet of a surface/macbook/etc. The biggest sacrifice with the dells is the screen resolution over ipad/surface.

Screen is exactly the reason I'd go with this for an iPad replacement. Movie streaming will be far superior on this over a Dell 7200. Having the non-detachable screen can actually be a plus depending now how/where you use.

Do not trust Woot on their descriptions. Open box and refurbished is pretty much used. I just got a laptop that is pretty much e-waste. The laptop has heavy scratches & dents and was labeled Open box refurbished. Absolutely disgusting that companies are having to just lie and use "refurbished" to try to con their customers. You would be better off using CL or FB marketplace.

Thanks for the insight. I ordered one but worst case, I can return it.

Agreed. We have one as well. Bought it used on eBay two years ago with the Surface dock. Nice device. Screen is great. I was afraid that the soldered 8GB would be a problem but it wasn't. Eventually upgraded the storage from 128GB to 512GB, trivially easy. It's used for basic wfh office productivity. Can't speak to the quality of these units specifically but I think the device is still nice.

Yep, Woot these days is an absolute dumpster heap.

It's horrible that they gutted the company so brutally and now just peddle leftover garbage from Amazon.
