One day we will be able to smoothly play PS2/Wii/GC games on one of these budget devices.

Right now I'm good with using a old phone with a Snapdragon 845, slapping a controller on it and it exceeds any these SBC devices in the 100 dollar range.
If you buy this, don't forget to install the Gamma OS on it.

Huge performance increase

Great price, nice find. It's as powerful as the retroid pocket 3+ but with a bigger, oled screen. Not my favorite device but a terrific machine for the price.

What is better. This or the Powkiddy x55. I ordered the X55. Man, I am ordering way too many of these.

The RG505 is the more powerful device. I have an X55 and (this is not necessarily a negative) I find that when it comes to PSP and Dreamcast titles, you simply can't be assured ahead of time until you boot up a game that it will just work buttery smooth, for each and every title they made for those systems. Some will do that, in fact several will. No tinkering needed. Others you'll find that with a bit of familiarity with using RetroArch and PPSSPP (the installed emulators), you can squeeze those last 5-10 frames out of the X55 that were needed to get the game to run smoothly. And for the rest, there's simply nothing you could tweak to make it run smoothly because the X55 simply doesn't have the power for it. It can still be a great experience because with the amount of games from those systems (and below, aka SNES, GBA, etc.) that it can play, it's possible you'll be perfectly content with what it can do over feeling disappointed about what it can't do. With the RG505, those two systems will work mostly well with no or not much tinkering necessary; but you'll find the hit or miss experience will apply for trying to run PS2 and GameCube instead.

Try out the X55 since you already have it ordered. If you like it, beat a good amount of games on it that it can play first, and by the time you do that, maybe you'll find the RG505 for this price or less in the future or something else that's newer / better that's been released by that time. Unless you really want to own both and know for sure it's an expense you can handle right now, go for it. Otherwise, I personally would lean more towards saving a bit of coin for now as a recommendation.

Why is there this sudden explosion of handheld thingies on sale, anyway?
Cos emulation apps getting better allowing even older phones with SDragon run many games. My 2019 s10e does just that, hook up dual shock to it and you even get good vibration feedback, not just bzz bzz from these devices
