Sorry, I am new to a Barrel Grip Jig Saw, any outstanding of this Makita one?
I saw both Dewalt, and Milwaukee has its Barrel Grip Jig Saw for $199 MSRP.

also HD has XVJ05Z for $209. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makit.../327854007

XVJ05Z v.s. XVJ01Z ?

The XVJ01Z is bigger in every dimension, heavier, has a stroke length of 1 inch vs 7/8 inch for XVJ05Z, and a slightly higher top speed, 3500 vs 3000 SPM. If you go to https://www.makitatools.com/products/search/jigsaw [makitatools.com], you can choose both and have it show a comparison. But it's still not obvious why the price is so different. Bigger motor in the 01, maybe.

$250 for a bare tool jigsaw?! I understand certain high dollar tools being justified, but this seems ridiculous.

It's not necessarily an apples-to-apples comparison, but Milwaukee's brand new M12 jigsaw [homedepot.com] is $169 right now with a 2.5AH battery...

Come on, that's a 12V tool vs 18V

1in stroke at 3500spm means a lot to cutting speed. If you don't know why this saw cost more then you do not need it.

And? Jigsaws don't need a tremendous amount of power to do what they do. If you've used the M12 Fuel lineup, you'd know they go toe-to-toe with a lot of their 18V competitors.

Ostensibly ~25% faster cuts based on 3500 vs 3000 spm, and 1" vs 7/8" stroke... that is not going to be worth the added cost for most folks... jigsaws aren't typically a primary tool in anyone's repertoire.
Lol. Save Makita for the actual carpenters and cabinet makers. Joe Blow handyman can get by with his M12 and other addictions.

Been on enough job sites to see decades old Makita tools still being used and abused. Meanwhile black and red feel compelled to upgrade to the latest marketing gimmick every other year.

Makita isn't festool but they make their own tools and make them well.

There are always people here asking "why this?", hence summarizing for people that this might cut around 25% faster. Just facts. I specifically stated "for most folks". Most folks aren't carpenters or cabinet makers that might benefit from choosing this (over a good alternative which I posted above).

People seem to be downvoting thinking I'm trashing Makita, but that wasn't the intention. I own a number of Makita tools and it's one of my preferred brands.. but this one's hard to justify without a specific need for slightly faster cutting - that is all.

Even thought I'm a Milwaukee fan and own 90% Milwaukee tools. I own several Makita and even Dewalt because some tools, competitors has a better versions. You're an idiot for arguing against obvious facts.

Arguing against obvious facts?! Poor interpretation of my post - you literally quoted me saying this Makita may cut about 25% faster (just that for most people, it's not going to be worth the extra cost).
