Do people who regularly use kayaks have a use for this thing? This + 12v battery seems like a lot of added weight for the convenience of not having to paddle occasionally. It also sticks out below the water line, meaning you can't just set the kayak down on the ground with the motor attached (you have to retract it first). The whole reason to use a kayak is it's *not* a boat, but something you can easily carry into the water (solo). The more crap you pile on, it eventually turns into a boat. One that doesn't go very fast, load very easy (kayak trailers are not designed to dunk), lacks a bilge pump (the extra weight seems like it will make the kayak more sinkable, and you can't just flip it over to empty the water out...).

Asking as someone who has gone kayaking, but doesn't currently own any (but, have a small boat with a 40hp 2-stroke, used on inland/fresh water rivers and lakes).

This just seems highly impractical.
