I bought this a few weeks ago at $149 and I absolutely love it. It works really well and gives me true one cable connectivity for my MacBook Pro. I haven't had any glitches at all, no software drivers to install, just plugged everything in and it works.

Now I've asked them to refund the $50 because of this deal, and their response was YES, they will refund the $50.

Looking at OWC webpage there seems to be little to no info regarding SD card reader speeds. I'm assuming UHS-I speeds (150 mbps)? I found out the mini-display port is Gen 1.2 not 1.4.

This or Caldigit TS4? I know this is a good price but TS4 -> TB4 interface (vs TB3) - 2.5 gbe (vs 1 Gbe) - 2 TB4 ports (this has only one TG3) - SD Reader UHS-II (vs UHS-I assuming) - faster USB 3.1 and USB-C ports - DP 1.4 (vs 1.2).

I have both. TS4 at home, the OWC in the office. Will you be taking advantage of the faster Ethernet, the additional TB port, etc. in a manner that makes a significant difference? I do not. I could have probably used the OWC in both places but… availability was crazy during the pandemic, and I jumped on the TS4 when I could.

I have a PowerBook 17'' that has a Thunderbolt version 1 port …. can anyone recommend a unit that works with it?

I think it will still work without power delivery. At least that's how a tbv2 will work with v3 and 4 with adapter
