Most of those signs are outdated.... Class I & 2 ebikes are allowed in most states and are considered non motorized vehicles.....don't be a snob, we need to coexist, they are all bicycles.
Not nearly as many from cars
For me, 68years old, I was ghost peddling at 14 MPH. Since most bike now use standard parts I was able to put on a 52 tooth chain ring.. 14 MPH is my comfort speed I keep it in gear 5 now with no ghost peddling.

Austin is out of stock so I got myself 2 drifters for pretty much the same price and a hyperax e-bike rack, total came out to $1200. It's a steal for what it is. Took it for a 22 miles spin today and came back home with around 40% battery left. My GF came back with around 80% left (she's 110, I'm 200, I only did light pedaling). This included some PAS 5 and a 1.6 climb up a pretty steep gravel mountain in gear 7 (later figured should've lowered the gear).

Interesting observation is it keeps accelerating downhill unless you are in PAS 0. Looks like it mistakes downhill riding for pedaling.

500w motor is plenty except of very steep hills. I tried one very steep hill at PAS 1 gear 1 and it couldn't make it throttle only. Maybe it would at PAS 5.

Also bought this rack: https://slickdeals.net/f/17473101-hyperax-volt-eco-120lbs-2-bike-hitch-mount-110-84?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Were you able to hit 28mph on your drifter?

Yes, effortlessly without pedaling. It's definitely limited via software, not hardware. I'm 200 pounds.

Had another 16 miles trip today with light pedaling, mostly PAS 1 and up to PAS 5 rarely for fun, came back with around 70-80% charge left. My GF was doing some more pedaling and she's around 80lbs less than me and she had 90% left after 16 miles.

Nice! I just ordered one. I had two Austin's and I wanted a third one for friends to ride with.

I am looking to add light strips to the underside of the downtube on the frame, perhaps the underside of the chainstay on both sides, and the front side of the forks. Can never be too visible at night time.. Want to do it clean and fab up splitters so that it works with the electrical system of the bike. Soldering isn't a thing for me.

Anyone explore what connectors are used for this bike yet?

Just a bit more feedback after some mountain biking. Already have like 100 miles on the bikes, still think they are a steal for the price, however, the 500w motor is definitely too small for any kind of hills. It looks like the motor has very limited torque so for any more or less serious incline it requires heavy pedaling to make it up. (I'm not talking very steep inclines but somewhat decent ones).

I'm 200 lbs. If you are planning to use it anywhere where there are steeper hills I'd definitely look at 750w/1000w versions. I assuming that motor is actually 500w I definitely don't recommend any 250w motors as those will definitely be very underpowered.

Otherwise still a steal. Another advantage of drifter is it works just fine with usual e-bike rack, no need for any extra rods.
