They basically increased the price and then added coupon.
I just got a similar unit for my son's room. His is the furthest from the air handler and the air there was almost non existent.

The model that I installed has a sensor for temp and settings for heat and cooling. Essentially it sees the heat come on and the fans get started. I have it set at 75. The temperature coming out of the registers is 90+. Eventually when the heat turns off this will run for a bit longer, pushing any remaining heat in the vent into his room.

It's not a night and day difference, but it sure helps.

Of course I was lucky that there was an outlet nearby since it's a baseboard register.

They advise against installation in a ceiling register..
I use one from ac infinity. If the hvac sucks in one particular vent, having this increased airflow by what feels to be 50%. Not amazing but better than it was before.

If only there was some sort of technology that would do the opposite of boost the airflow? Maybe buy one of these and install it backwards? I bet on full blast it would zero out the airflow.

Saran wrap the underside of the register

99.99% air flow blockage

How are they powered?
That's what I was thinking too, I wish they were powered by some sort of wind recharged battery but it appears that they need to be plugged in to a nearby outlet. [media-amazon.com]

This thing would only work if you wanted to boost the temperature in the same direction as the a/c is providing. If it's pushing out heat and you turn this on you're going to suck more of the hot air from that duct run and push it to the room this thing is in. This is advantageous only if your house's hvac is unbalanced.

Ummm that's the whole point of these.

If you have noticeably weaker airflow / CFM from a register, inspect the duct work first. Could have came loose from the collar, could be torn, or could just be poorly ran like a lot of flex duct in attics. Be surprised how much better airflow you can get by cutting off excess and straightening some flex. I've seen some crazy loops in attics. Also pull the floor registers and look for garbage / debris. Especially with kids since they'll shove crap everywhere.

So..why wouldn't you buy AC Infinity for $48, if it is a better unit?

I thought this is exactly what the thermostat/thermo-sensor tries to avoid. If you set the temperature to 68, it would only kick in and start blowing when the A/C is blowing air causing the temperature below 68. Once A/C stops it continues to blow air as long as the air at the duct is lower than 68. It stops blowing once the temperature rise above 68, for this example, until the A/C starts blowing again.

Says who, the AC Infinity looks just like the other random China brand ones I bought the other day for like 20% less than that.

I have a couple of AC Infinity register boosters.

Remember, these don't just boost the airflow when your AC is on, you can set their temperature activation threshholds to keep blowing air while there is still cool air in the vent.

So long after the AC has shut off since the rest of the house is cool, you are still blowing in the cold air that would just sit idle in the ductwork.

I have 1 bedroom at the highest point of the house, aligned with the attic. By default, it's the hottest room, which becomes challenging in the summer. To keep the room cool, I need to keep the AC running, which makes the rest of the house uncomfortably cold. Would this help manage the temperature of the room? I was going to add a window AC unit this summer, but if this fan can help with my issue, I'd rather go that route since it's cheaper and quieter to run.

so now you need outlet close to your AC register? aren't in most home the AC register is just about the furthest part from any available AC outlet?
According to the National Electrical Code, outlets should be installed so that no point along the wall is more than 6 feet from an outlet. However, older dwellings may not have had these requirements when they were built. I have one register right underneath an outlet.

I'd like to see a slickdeal on that!

Yes. That's for shortest distance of a wall to outlet, which is typical measured by straight lines. It says nothing about ceiling, or the height of wall ( you could easily have 12 ft walls, while your wall to outlet maybe 6 ft, but top of wall to your outlet could be much more than 6 ft).
As I stated, AC vents typically are as far away from outlet as it goes unless your have floor vent system

anyhow. I am somewhat curious about the difference between those products, vs, just keep the AC fan on?

All different kinds are available online and at all the big box "home" stores, here is a link to one of the cheapest I found after a brief search: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sunco...lsrc=aw.ds
