That unfixable issue also effects the M3 chips as well……

If you peel back the onion a bit and click on the link you provided, you'll get this: https://www.techradar.com/pro/sec...ption-keys

"Fortunately, it seems the attack is pretty difficult to pull off"

To note, TechRadar is awful at explaining how the 99.9% of the world is unaffected. I'm nowhere near an expert in this area but....this is so far removed from normal life that you'd almost need to be a willing participant and have already given up control of your device. It's not like someone can just sit next to you and siphon it out like in the movies.

My son has started doing basic coding on Scratch and tried his hand at Roblox game building. Anyone know if this would hold up well for that sort of thing?

There's an unfixable issue with the M1 and M2. So, the M3 is definately the way to go at the moment...

Yep, probably a great use case. On here are also a ton of M1/M2 deals; choose how you wanna. Your son will know when it's time to sell the Air and move towards the Pro, and that's usually when they're....a professional (or one trying to moonlight as such)

Have fun and enjoy how happy your kid is going to be.

Final note: every time I go to the apple store there is a parent who is exercising AppleCare because X happened. Could be a great way to protect your neck.

I would recommend 15" with a laptop cooler. Definitely don't need a pro unless he is planning to build large products.

Note that the Space Gray version has been going in and out of stock today as well. I was able to put an order in earlier today.

There is a deal for $950 or so for the 15" M2. that's a pretty good deal if you want a 15" but it's an M2 chip . It's from CDW and posted on slickdeals.

I prefer M3 for slightly higher single core clock speed and dual monitor support

Also, this deal is same as Apple EDU discount (just fyi, I'd wait for the $150 gift card back to school deal).
No, Apple does not check/verify if you are indeed EDU Qualified.
