Rivian strikes me as being operationally much more sane than Fisker, even if they're burning money. Really hope to see the R3X come to fruition, love how that thing looks.

Yeah, there's definitely a difference btwn Fisker and Rivian, one that people actually want a Rivian (#1 cust loyalty on CR) and their prices hold + resell well. They just need to manage their costs better as nobody anticipated how frugal investors are nowadays when it comes to cash burn.
I met RJ as he pulled into a random parking lot one time and he sure stands by his product, tried to sell me the bike pad accessory he had on his truck 😅!
LOL that's hilarious!
Yep the R3 is sick!
I sure hope they don't go under. I bought a bunch of stock right after Doug DeMuro's review of the R1T

If you want to play the "my experience represents the entire industry" game, everyone I know who has purchased a EV has said they will never go back to ICE.
The minute every country basically said they were going to relax the timelines on EV adoption and mandates for automakers, Mercedes and other companies could not wait to pull back and start focusing more on ICE cars. That said everything. Like I said, take away the tax credits and start charing EV owners a road tax too and let's see how sales really go. My business partner had a Mach E, it was nice, not a bad vehicle until he barely made it up here one day in the winter and he had to find a charger and I had to pick him up. Got rid of it shortly after and went back to gas. My impressions of the Mach E, great acceleration, very comfortable seats, meh styling, can't tow shit, like at all, and price way too high. One of my neighbor's is a retired auto exec, I was talking to his wife a few days ago who is on her third EV and she even said they would never have EVs as their only cars, He has a gas pickup truck and she drives the EV around town. One house, Model S, Model 3, Toyota Sienna, another Model Y, Honda Pilot, another house Ford Lightning, Audi Q7, another Blazer EV, GMC Denali. 4 houses out of 100 that have EVs and none 100% EVs.
Glad I didn't get the Ocean when my order was ready and got a Rivian instead, hope they don't suffer a similar fate..
I hesitated to cancel due to the non-refundable portion of deposit, but glad I requested one early to get most of it back. Apparently other pre-order holders that requested a refund of their pre-order still waiting for theirs.
Rivian in a way better place. They belong in the ev space.
I just lost more than fisker ocean worth in Fisker's stock, it was a sudden death but warning those who buy this car would get a slow and painful hellish experience....

There will be no Phoenix rising from these ashes. Go look at Lordstown motors for example. Who's gonna fix the buggy software after everyone gets laid off?
the answer is to open source it, and if they wanted to fire sale their stock that's what they should annouce, but corps would rather create a 40k paperweight than dare do something consumer focused.
considering the quality of EV companies, i think imma stay on petrol until they shut the lights off on gas stations. i can keep a fuel sipping 4 cylinder from the late 90s running with a harbor freight toolkit nearly indefinitely and the worst i have to worry about electronically is blown caps in the ecu and no software to brick.
i'll be interested if we ever get to minimalist ev's that don't have tons of bloatware on top of what's needed to keep the car from melting, or even more importantly fully open source projects that are enthusiastically compliant with right to repair.
until then it's a pretty hard pass with all the shenanigans from every one of these companies and/or the price of them from respected companies (i like the hyundai offering but it needs to cost like half what it does)
WTF are you talking about? Read reddit. Some of the cars should not be driven because they break and shutdown. Are you fisker CEO? I came to this topic because $24000 is a steal and I'd just go and buy it cash but it costs $24000 for the same reason why 5 year old range rover costs $10000. Nobody wants to drive that junk/
I have a FOU. The shutdown problems are related to the cheapo 12v they used in the early FOO (launch editions). They seem to have that sorted out now..
That was a disgraceful hit piece by Marques, I lost a lot of respect for him after that. I am 50/50 on EVs but that video seemed like a hit piece, dare I say a paid hit piece. His past coziness with Musk makes his judgment suspect.
His review was horseshit. I stopped watching that knob when he tried to manually rotate the screen. 🙄
Most of the homes in my neighborhood are two physician families, average household income in here is probably half a million or more, no one gives a damn about gas prices, especially since they are generally written off anyway. My monthly fuel bill is like $150, why on earth do you think that tiny amount of money would be a reason for me to run and get an EV? My utility bills in the winter are about $500 and my property taxes are almost 4 figures a month. My house insurance is like $350 a month but yeah that reduction in a fuel bill by buying an EV, that's going to make all the difference. 😂 If I switch to an EV I should be able to charter a yacht or jet like I have always want to do.
Sounds like you are flexing. What brings you to slickdeals?

LOL, wrong on so many level.
Yeah like your neighborhood is a representation for everyone else.
Here's a couple of facts. The fact is that a very small percentage who have own Tesla have gone back to ICE cars.
Another fact is that Tesla have the highest brand loyalty of any car manufacturers.
I hate the Chinese but they are going to flood most countries with cheap EVs.
EVs are going to dominate the market in the future, no doubt about it.
Gas are in the $3.5 now, premium is $4+.
My wife 84 miles round trip cost her around $13.44 for her Lexus. The Model Y cost her around $2.53 based on .1145 cents per kwh where we live.
We got the Model Y this part Jan for $51,000- $5k inventory discount - $7500 POS credit making it $38,500+delivery fee+TTL. We were looking at the Prius Prime and it was well past $40k with all greedy Toyota dealership.
There's no better time to get a Tesla.
Electric will be just as expensive as gas if most people switch.
The only reason petroleum isn't $1 a gallon is politics and taxes. People have no idea just how vast hydrocarbon resources are in the US.
Of course you could buy solar panels. 80kwh battery for your model y, so you will need about x200 100w panels to fully charge it daily.
Or put another way, you will need a 100w panel for every 1.25 miles you drive daily.
