The influential masterpiece of one of the twentieth century's most brilliant—and neglected—science fiction and horror writers, whom Stephen King called "the best writer of science fiction that England has ever produced."—now in development as a miniseries directed by Johan Renck.

"[Wyndham] avoids easy allegories and instead questions the relative values of the civilisation that has been lost, the literally blind terrоr of humanity in the face of dominant nature. . . . Frightening and powerful, Wyndham's vision remains an important allegory and a gripping story."—The Guardian

Absolutely stellar sci-fi book. Such an interesting take on a post apocalyptic world. Highly recommend

Be sure to checkout The Midwich Cuckoos. Especially if you liked Stephen King's The Dome.
Didn't read the book, but I watched the latest TV series and I thought it was pretty good.

I still hear the music from the ice cream truck in the old music, playing in my head every now and then. I guess I have to check out the new series! Book first, thanks OP!

If you enjoy cheesy British sci-fi that takes itself very seriously, I highly recommend this book. Personally, it felt like a very drawn-out episode of Dr Who so it wasn't for me.

I thought it was pretty good. apparently there are some changes from the book that people didn't like. I, having never read the book, didn't have that issue. I'd say watch the first couple of episodes and see what you think.

Thanks! I think I will. I saw the trailer and the kids don't look the same which seems odd given the story, but perhaps it works for the show? I don't mind changes when it makes things better. Changes just for change sake, can be a little disappointing though.
