We have bought several Samsonites (both soft and hard) luggage sets from Costco and these have endured multiple international and domestic travels. We love the soft luggage sets but bought a hard one last time and it has one successful international travel under its belt.
Good to know... FWIW - I have the soft Delsey suitcases from Costco that have been on sale, and they've been thru similar trips all over the world with multiple porters and are still working great.
FWIW: Most airlines require that your checked bag be 62 linear inches or less. Therefore, your bag's length, width and height cannot exceed 62 inches. This measurement includes the wheels and the handle of your luggage.
The linear measurement of the larger bag is 62.5" (29" H x 20.5" L x 13" W). Only 1/2" over the limit, but it is over the limit = possible headaches at check-in.
RE, a sizing anecdote:
A friend parked slightly into a no parking zone, returning as his car was going bye-bye on a tow truck headed down the road. Venting to the nearby officer that he was only one foot over the line, the cop responded "that's all he took, but the rest followed".
Can't say I remember a cycle these go on sale. I don't think they ever do.
I want to say the last time Kirkland baby wipes were on sale was last summer like August. Bought two boxes and finished them quicker than I thought we would. That's how it goes with babies I guess.

ERGO, do you feel lucky?
Gotta think outside the box man. I just take the wheels off and toss them in the bag. Put em back on when I get there. doesn't take but a minute or two.

Think I'll be picking up the vitamix. Any thoughts on it?
I couldn't wait for the Costco one to go on sale so bought a refurbished one directly from Vitamix (managed to get a deal for $225 on a 5200 series). I absolutely love it. Seemed in perfect condition and it really is a monster in terms of its blending capabilities. My son and I have been making a different fruit "ice cream" pretty much every night.
