FYI, this item usually goes on sale for lower during the summer times I believe. Check the price history for yourself.

No DRAM on this model.

You can lookup SSD specs on this spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...buuQva2gT4

Or search TechPowerUp's database:
https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs

PC Part Picker also has a searchable database with a comparison tool:

Aside from the size/cost how does this compare to the Samsung 870 series? Is it more reliable?

SSD prices are rising for the last few months. My dealer cost on Crucial 500 gb NVME's went from 28 to 49 and I buy 500 at a time.

This isn't a good price for the bx500. It's important to remember that an old dram-less drive like this does not support hmb (host memory buffer). That means not only does it have substantially worse performance than any similarly specced drive with dram, it will also have worse reliability and longevity. Unlike modern drives which can still perform well without dram, the bx500 will be meaningfully worse in almost every way and is likely to fail sooner compared to the mx500. I also remember back in the day that the bx500 was notorious for having issues when used as an OS drive, though that could've potentially been fixed by firmware updates or the shift to micron 96L tlc. The bx500 only comes with a 3-year warranty, as opposed to the standard 5 year warranty crucial offers with their higher tier drives such as the mx500.

If you absolutely need a 2.5" sata ssd, and are looking to purchase from a reputable brand with presence in western markets like crucial, you'd be better off spending the extra $15 and getting the mx500 for $110: https://slickdeals.net/f/17396580-2tb-crucial-mx500-3d-nand-2-5-internal-solid-state-drive-109-99-free-shipping

The mx500 at $110 is also not a good deal, and if you have an pcie gen3 or up m.2 slot available you'd be much better off getting a m.2 ssd, but with the current awful ssd market the mx500 at $110 at least makes some slight degree of sense, while the bx500 at $95 just doesn't.

Samsung and Micron are both top tier memory makers. Generally speaking both are very reliable. Warranty, TBW, MTBF are the same between this and 870.
