It depends. I bought a pair of knock off xmetals and after having owned them for a little over a year, they are falling apart. My genuine pair (that I lost) didnt start flaking the paint off after 20yrs of ownership. For these, since I've never owned a pair of this type, probably couldn't tell.

Decided to get a pair. Just saw another another thread w a video of a women losing her eye because her sunglasses shattered and killed her eye. Not worth taking the risk with my current replica oakley's. These lenses are polycarbonate.

I had new pair from Oakley with paint issue, and they took it back and replaced it , it was the frame. They came up with plastic colored instead of painted. That's another type of glasses. They're all junk , real glasses have glass, mineral glass. Quality is amazing. You will not find glass on these brand, guaranteed.

Oakley are not what they used to be since being purchased by Luxotica. Luxotica buys premuim brands then cuts quality while keeping prices high trading off the original rep. The lens quality in particular has gone way down on Oakley. I've had the OG ones last me 10+ years. The new ones I bought direct from Oakley the lens coatings crack or flake in 1 to 2 years. These are probably not much better than the knock offs.

I can't find in the specs that the lens are made of polycarbonate. Can you share where you got that info?

All Oakley lenses are polycarbonate, they don't as a brand use glass and as far back as I can remember never have.

If you go onto oakleys site it says they use a material called plutonite or something like that, then if you click on that it says its made of polycarbonate.

It hurts so bad bc those glasses were from the opening to Mission Impossible 2 and now they are 800 bucks! It was by accident. I had no idea what the retro oakley market was like. They were just stylish durable sunglasses. One down side was if you left them on a car dash they would be so hot you couldn't wear them.
