There is literally no difference between these and a regular Pico remote, other than the little fan graphic (which is virtually invisible) at the top and bottom of the switch. I have 4 Caseta fan switches in our bedrooms and use standard Pico remotes as bedside remotes. The up/down buttons cycle through all 4 fan speeds just fine.

This is a good deal if you are buying a fan switch as it's cheaper than the dimmer Pico, but if you have a couple of leftover dimmer Picos, they'll work just fine with the fan switch.

Good to know! I didn't know a regular pico dimmer would act as a fan speed controller. I might find a fan sticker and place it on the pico so I can differentiate. Thanks!

How do you pair a normal wireless pico remote with a fan? I'm looking at my pico remote in the sop and it only shows my lights. Not my fan switches.

The Picos are not paired in the app, they're paired directly to the wall switch.

Press and hold the off button on the fan switch for 6 seconds until the lights on the switch blink rapidly.to put the switch in to pairing mode.

Press the off button on the Pico remote for 6 seconds and the lights on the Pico will blink back an acknowledgement that pairing is complete.

Ha Ha, I always suspected that but I still have fan specific picos. I got them cheap. I have the double pedestal so I have one pico for the fan lights and one pico for the fan.

Thank you! I had no idea I could pair it that way.

You're welcome - Picos don't need the hub or phone app - I was using them "standalone" paired with Caseta switches to add 3 way switching in my house well before getting in to home automation and added the hub later.

The Picos show up in the app but honestly I've never seen a reason to add them to the "rooms" they belong to in the app - they just clutter up the rooms IMO so they just remain in the app under "My Home" defined as "Unnamed Pico Remote #" with # just being a sequential number.

In the interest of full disclosure, I broke down and ordered 4 of these fan Picos Smilie I'll swap out the standard Picos I'm using on my fans, as I'll need some standard Picos anyway as we automate my daughter's home. TBH the standard Picos on the fans kinda bothered my OCD...laugh out loud

Yeah it would drive me crazy to have the wrongly labeled ones too. I love my pico stands, bought a ton of single and double ones awhile ago when Home Depot was clearancing them out.

You need a fan setup that has 2 switches, one for the lights and one for the fan, correct?

Yeah, if your home was built after 2000, there's a chance you could have an extra wire ran to the light for a fan. Look inside the switch box for a red or black wire not hooked up.

Failing that you can always grab a wireless switch and stick the receiver inside the fan canopy. It's not going to look as nice as a pico, but it sure beats pulling cords.
