Best price I've found for quite a while! Even cheaper than the last time I got advanced fuel. This stuff retails for a dollar more a qt. Says good for 20k, but even at 10k it makes me nervous.

Toyota uses Mobil 1, so that's all I put in mine.

I never trusted this though. Is this a thing? I change when the light turns on. Mobil will also replace your engine if it fails. But good luck proving that too Smilie
Or it's due to CAFE standards to squeeze that .1MPG.

You can also check what viscosity the rest of the world uses, so you won't be wrong. Toyota recommends different viscosity in the US as compared to Japan and Australia. Same engine, same software, same everything, different recommendations.

Wow this is the cheapest I've seen 0w-16. If I buy this can I take it to Walmart and have them do the oil change for me?

Car warranty wants to have proof that oil changes have been made in case I need something covered. If I do my own oil changes it will be harder to prove and they will want to deny coverage.

My 2021 rav4 that I just bought uses this. RAV 4 is one of the most popular cars in USA, I wonder why Costco doesn't bother to sell 0w-16

Anyone have an idea why they don't?

Costco functions on large volumes, 0W-16 isn't enough of the market to make it worth carrying for them. I think it just started to make some bulk tanks at quick lubes not too long ago.

Keep believing that.

Luckily most people down own a car long enough to wear out a motor then it ends up with the poor middle class who just keep adding oil until it blows and then put used motors.

When the report that half of the oil tested doesn't meet API specification and two Mobil execs were on that board came out, the cheap stuff from those batches gotta be cleared!

That said. I'll put EP it in my beater if it goes below $15 with the rebate. Rebate is right around the corner but truck owners might need 3 gallons a fill.
Did 15k intervals on my mustang ecoboost tuned full bolt on, and I thrashed on it. Did a uoa on it and it was still fine. That was a test for me, if my hard driven mustang floored everywhere 15k and oil was still fine tbn, my Scion was fine too. Thats why I started using 15k intervals for the last 100k on my daily.

No issues really. But I will do 10k using this cheaper oil, amsoil signature has zero issues with the 25k mileage rating imho. 15k and black stone said it was perfectly fine with plenty life left

But that's expensive boutique only and imo overkill

Thoโ€ฆ I'm looking at a gr86 today out of boredom. I'd probably use signature in that car @ 10k intervals again

Edit my oil arrived, 3 5 quart containers with correct 0w-20

Anyone got opinions on gr86 cars? Shithole turds? I saw a pic of a Neptune blue one and it's beautiful. Legit thinking of myself in one. I drive a 160hp scion tc and happy with it, would keep it for winter car and rock a gr86 for a sporty little commuter

Tho craphole mpg and premium 91+ octane required.

Edit, 1000 deposit on car lmao

Not sure what you are trying to say about oil not meeting API spec. Have any proof? news article, etc?

Oil change interval matters more than brand. Just follow manufacturer specs. The 3-5k guys are still living in the 70's. Most oil analysis results seem to come back the same: "you could have gone longer."

I currently use this stuff but my car calls for changing at 7500, so I'm switching to the Kirkland stuff. $80 for 4 5-quart jugs delivered right now. Often on sale at $30 for 2 5-quart jugs.

If I knew for certain I could go 20k on this oil I'd come back, but it's almost triple the manufacturer spec.
Try oil analysis sometime. That is the industry accepted way to check whether you can stretch out interval.

15k is crazy long IMO. I wouldn't go over 10k. I do my changes at 5-7.5k and the oil is so dirty and sheared down.
I had a BMW about a decade ago I bought new. Dealer said "free oil changes first 50k" OK great, but that's by the OBDC. I noticed the OBDC was tracking to around 20k miles for the first oil change so I called the dealer and they said that's normal. Huh. That car used M1EP 0w40 I believe, so I just changed it every 10k.

Sold that car with 194k miles on it, even the original clutch. No major issues (water pump, a few of the coil packs).

I've switched to Kirkland. Got tired of chasing the M1 rebates. I've been using it in our 2 vehicles (0w20) for around a year now. No problems, the OBDC usually recommends change between 9 and 10k, that's just how it's been trending (18 Pilot and 20 Odyssey) their 5Q jug also happens to be the EXACT correct amount for both cars which now that I know is nice, no having to worry about overfilling.

As in it used to be only carried in case/tote packs (small packages) because the volumes sold were not high. It's finally high enough now to warrant buying it by the truckloads (bulk tanks, thousands of gallons).

Only a few companies use 0W-16 (Toyota and Honda as far as I know) most others are on 0W-20s so think about Costco's planning. Stock a pallet of 0W-16 for the few cases I sell a month and take away a shelf spot for some other high moving item or retain only the fast movers which I sell hundreds of cases per store.

Quick lube places basically have oil on tap, meaning they have bulk tanks of more common oil viscosities that they pump out of direct into engines. They won't be using bottles without needing to do so. For them to dedicate a tank to 0w16 means that they're seeing enough need to warrant it.

Yeah 10k is acceptable as long as the oil level is good. Heck when I was dirt broke, I used to use an oil filter for 2 oil changes lol 5k intervals with the cheapest oil I could find. That vehicle has 300k now. No major issues

I've brought my own oil to WM and had it changed. Years ago.The guy seemed a little puzzled. YMMV.

Watch out , when you get your order double check it. Last time I did this deal for 0w-16, they sent me 0w-20. Worthless, had to refund and send it back. Lady at walmart was clueless and not helpful even though it was bought and shipped by Walmart, she said they don't sell 3 pack so they can't just exchange it.

It was an honest mistake. No fuss required
