Express uses the gig drivers to fulfill the order, making them much more likely to rush. Regular orders are fulfilled by store associates that are making the same hourly no matter how long it takes to pick your order
Thanks, that makes complete sense. It seems like they literally sprint through the store and grab a few items.

I've used it twice and had to do follow up orders with the missing items both times. Won't do it again even though we get a free Express.
Express in our store is done by 3rd party, pick up and delivery is done by Walmart associates, we get reprimanded if we don't find items for customers. Not sure if the express drivers get reprimanded or not, they are considered self-employed.

Anyone else notice a significant increase in substitutions and items unavailable when using "Express"?

I'd rather wait a few more hours to get what I ordered.

I was just bummed when they stopped substituting items at the original price

Haven't bought Exxon gas since they let Gilligan pilot the Valdez.

As for W+, this is some weak sauce. I dropped Prime two years ago when "two day shipping" became "meh, maybe next week, if you're lucky". W+ odd far more reliable, but W prices for so many things are simply not competitive. And I'll skip the "tip expected" express service - if I need it that bad I can pick it up myself.

Depends on location. Most of my items are same day or one day delivery with Prime. However, when I order for my in-laws in Seattle (the birthplace of Amazon), I'm quoted 3+ days for the same items.

20 cent discount only at Exxon and Mobil? Why not at Walmart gas stations?

I sometimes order online, then pick it up myself. I had several orders in a row, where at least one item was "unavailable", usually 2 or more. I got frustrated with this and would go into the store, just to check. I could usually find half of what they couldn't find, right on the shelf. The last 3 orders have been fine.
And why is it if I have WM+, do I still sometimes get charged $5.99 if my pickup order is not $35. or more?
