Because it hurts much less to lose an inexpensive tool than a $200 tool. Nowadays there's no point in spending big bucks for a knife when you can get very good steels in knives that are $40 & under. I'm happy with my Rat2D2.

Just "stainless steel", no specifics. Probably not great, but easy to sharpen.

The same Walmart page showed a Mora Companion on sale for $20, and web searching shows that's 12C27: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mora-C...n/51382222

Almost tempted by the pictured set just for the sheath. My son just bought a SOG field knife and the sheath is comes with is nice but holds it pretty high on your belt.

We were at bass pro this weekend and got a universal sheath that looks a lot like that one for $6. If we hadn't already picked that up this would have been a no brainer for sure.

Of course those are garbage, since Walmart only pays $5 to Chinese companies for those, what do u expect?

$20 for a basic Mora Companion seems like robbery to me. These things used to be less than $10 all day every day, and they haven't changed a bit.
