If it's like last year's event, just walk in any Target and take a picture or scan the QR code. If you have an old one to trade in then great. I just wouldn't go out of my way to get a used one solely to get the discount for a new one.
Car seats have an expiration date. A lot of what is donated is expired. If anything they're doing this for recycling purposes.

Found a car-sear trade in FAQ - "The bonus can be applied to both in-store and online purchases and is valid April 14 through May 11, 2024"

I may be out of the loop, but didn't they used to offer $25-50 gift cards instead of coupons?

Walmart did that one year and ended the program early because they were getting flooded.

Tom is right, they just have a big box by the return area (at my local target) and it has a QR code on the box you just can and they give you the 20% discount on the app for future car seat purchase. I believe it expires in like a month if i remember correctly.

Can the 20% off be combined with the 15% off registry discount?

If you have an Amazon Prime account, they will honor you 15% off on baby products if you have a baby registry.

Trick to use free 20% off coupon:
Enter inside the store and open your target app. You will see a printed bar code next to the car seat drop off site. Just scan the code with your target app and coupon will be added to your wallet. No car seat recycling needed!!

I dont remember, it was always 20% off from your next baby gear purchase. Make sure you cross check the real price of your newly purchased item with other store. Sometime target inflates the price.

Not cool but shows how worthless the coupon is.

I've been doing this since my oldest was a baby, so about 9 years and it's been 25% (so maybe they dropped to 20%) off SELECT baby items. So you "trade-in" a car seat and the coupon is good for other car seats, strollers, maybe playpens but it was never off anything. It had to be certain baby items.

Edited to add: they used to make you give the car seat to a team member and they'd give you a physical coupon but now that it's moved to their app, you just scan a code. But you must have the app and it's good for 2 items.
