Been wanting to watch Suzume, but haven't found other streaming services than Crunchyroll that has it.
Also heard good things about Frieren. Dub version is also $3.99 for each of the 2 seasons (entire series?).
But very reluctant to purchase on microsoft, as they discontinued music store years ago, not sure what'll happen to video purchases in the future.
You can do a one-week trial of Crunchy via Amazon Prime Video if you don't feel like getting a sub. Really enjoyed Suzume, saw it with our pre-teen kids and they were blown away. It has the art style and heart of studio ghibli but takes it up a notch with its own edge. I'd totally own it if it wasn't on Microsoft.
Any recommended shows to get while this sale is on?
Tyty
Depending on your taste, I thought Chainsaw Man was great (16+). For something more tame Spy x Family is cute. Suzume if you are interested in full length feature films and like Studio Ghibli.

Frieren is so good. Surprised it's not linked in the post.

It means you get a season. It's just weird wording. You get to keep it for as long as the platform has it. Technically, every digital movie or show you buy is just a "pass," because all of these platforms can remove your purchases at any time, for any reason, without notice or compensation. While it doesn't happen often, it does happen.
Reasons digital "ownership" isn't. Sony/Discovery pulled that nonsense in December and got slapped around by consumers enough that they extended licensing for "at least the next 30 months". I never "bought" any of that content, but I expect the same thing to happen in 2026 when that extension ends. And again. And again. And again.

Yeah, no. Keep in mind that this is "Sony CrunchyMation". They JUST told a ton of their subscribers to go eff themselves when it came to transferring their digital purchases from Funi to Crunchi during the merger.
Let's say Crunchimation gets absorbed into Sony next year (since they're all actually the same company)...not only is there a high chance of losing these digital purchases as things transfer, they have VERY recently done just that. "Oh, those purchases were on Funimation...we're Crunchyroll now, apologies. Would you like to purchase them again?"
I'm typically fine with purchasing digital goods (at a cheap price), but again...this JUST happened, so I'd be wary of any digital animation offers from that group.
Look for a decent subscription deal, then pick up blu-ray sets for any shows you REALLY like

This is a great deal all around but doesn't seem like there's a way to watch these on iPhone or am I missing an app? I can link w/ Movies Anywhere but only movies show up on there. If this sale was on another service I would be all over it

Thanks for the recommendation. Not knowing anything about it, when I watched the trailer, I thought it was going to be one of those "Thanks for defeating the Demon Lord. Now we have to kill you because you're too dangerous" kind of shows. This looks touching, and I hope it doesn't have too many tropes.

Maybe don't buy Chobits on the Microsoft Store.
The episode titles are correct but, despite contacting Microsoft, Funimation and Crunchyroll last year, the actual content is mislabeled, out of order, or missing entirely.
ep 9 is actually 10 "chi buys"
ep 10 is actually 11 "chi meets" (11 is also 11. ep 9 is MISSING, but just a recap episode)
ep 18 is actually 19 "chi helps"
ep 19 is actually 20 "chi disappears"
ep 20 is actually 18 "minoru and yuzuki chat"
ep 25 is actually 24 "chi wears and takes off" (ep24 is also ep24; 25 is MISSING)
Additionally, while an unaired recap episode is included ("Hibiya and Kotoko Chat"), the unaired short "Sumomo and Kotoko Deliver" is not.

By the way, I highly recommend Mashle: Magic and Muscles. It's hilarious and makes you go what the heck???
