Nice find. .21 per pack. I think the only better deal going is when the warehouse stores have a coupon for the Platinum.

Why would I use these over the generics I get from my local grocery?

How much in the warehouse and per pack compared to this one?

Sams currently has an 81 pack for $17.98. So 22 cents each.

Only you can tell. But generally the difference in quality on these and virtually all other brands and store brand ones is night and day.

Cascade is the gold standard and this is their highest tier variant.

Even Finish doesn't hold a candle to these.

But yeah, if the run of the mill is working out for some, no reason to change, except when it hits this price.

Because these are less expensive?

In general higher-end detergents are better at cleaning off stubborn stains or grease, and don't leave residue or spots behind on your dishes. They also work better with newer (energy-efficient) dishwashers. Most people find they simply need to scrape off large food clumps... the rest can be taken care of by the detergent without any need for pre-rinsing or soaking etc.

Cascade Platinum Plus is the 2nd highest-rated detergent from Wirecutter, behind only Cascade Free & Clear which is nearly 50% more expensive at the time of this sale.

That said mileage will very much vary depending on the state of your dishware, dishwasher, water supply, whether you like to pre-rinse, and other factors. If you are already happy with how clean your dishes are with the generic detergents then there is no reason to switch.

If you are satisfied w/ how your dishes come out then you might not depending on what you are paying per pod. Personally I switched to regular Cascade years ago after less expensive brands left dried food on my dishes and spots on my glasses. Switched again to Platinum after I tried it when it was on sale for the same price as the regular Cascade and noticed it did an even better job, esp. w/ glasses. Have not noticed much difference b/t Platinum and Platinum Plus to be honest, but buy it when I can find a good deal.

There are many less expensive alternatives. e.g. Costco has the Kirkland Signature Platinum Performance in-store for $11.99 for the 115-count (regular price), less than half the price of these per pac.

My wife has the same issue. I can't smell or taste any difference but she can tell.

This is consistently rated at or near the top of ratings, but it always made my dishes smell and taste strongly like soap. Switched to Finish Quantum and no more problems. Wonder if some dishwashers just work better with different brands?

Echoing this sentiment. I only scrape food off and the soap smell is too strong for my wife. But it is very effective in getting majority of food residue off. We are going to try to switch to something with less strong scent after we finish our current container.
