I'd advise buying Target gift cards online for security. Last time Target had the 5% off sale during the holidays, 1 of my physical gift cards worth $200 was drained to $0 immediately after I purchased it. It took weeks to recover the funds back from Target.

Check out this story talking about it: https://www.nbcbayarea.com/invest...m/3461757/
Target doesn't code as Grocery for any credit card I know of.
Traditionally, it hasn't stacked with red card but would obviously stack with any credit card bonus categories you might have.

I don't think you get a 15% registry discount on gift cards.
No meant I am buying gift card on wife's account, then using it on my account, in which I will get 15% registry so I guess no 5% but still, a total of 25% off not bad

Totally agree. Online gift cads have become a high risk ! I learned the hard way with a online Maggianos , Cash Card (site) and P F Chang`s online cards that were hacked. Never again will I buy an online card in this crooked world. And trying to deal with the companies to rectify can be a hassle.

As someone who works in this field. Online is safer. If someone is hacking card numbers directly from their system it doesn't matter if it's online or physical. Physical cards have the extra issue that people can get the numbers physically before they give you the card and they just keep track of what was sold.

Use with caution, AMEX known to be sticklers for GC transactions. I personally would use whatever highest flat-rate card over BCE for this.

So really, only 5% extra since I always use my red card.
When comparing to Redcard discount, this deal is both 5% extra, plus whatever your rewards credit card gives you (usually 1-3%) for Target transactions.

Months to recover here
Got a $500 physical from target.com that was got siphoned from CA and I'm in MN, this was 5yrs ago now.
It even had cartwheel savings on the purchases! Makes you expect it was resold
Either inside warehouse job or it just comes from a B&M store

Even with police report target was a complete bafoon and wouldn't cooperate in the investigation
Somehow eventually with enough chasing target eventually got the money back, but what a shame

Same for me. Getting in touch with customer support to see what is going on. My partner has got it working on their account for email delivery.

UPDATE: The support person created a ticket "to be fixed within one hour"
the offer was not working for me either so i contacted support and they told me i am not eligible. 🤷.

Still have $300 giftcard from December giftcard sale 😣 every time I compare price, Walmart usually cheaper and I have Walmart + with free shipping so I go with Walmart

Target price matches Walmart if you want to use your cards

Target recently (6mo-1yr?) started changing their physical gift cards. Now the magnetic strip/barcode is no longer visible, it's encased in a 'pouch' where you have to pull off this tag to expose the gift card barcode to activate. Like how MC/Visa cards are done. With this change, I feel like scammers can't just copy the barcode & wait for it to be activated. Is my thinking correct, or are physical GCs even like this more risky than online GC?

That being said, still, if the GC info was compromised at the source (Target/issuer), then it doesn't matter if it's online or physical.

This deal more than covers any tax on the purchase unless you live somewhere with 10% tax. .
HAHAHA welcome to good ol' CA! In Alameda County (Fremont, Oakland, Berkeley, etc), sales tax is *over* 10% and probably rising. And in NorCal generally, it's just under 10%, around 9.25%-9.75% depending on the city & county (sales tax rates are all over the place, but all high).
