Mine at 100% charge gets 175 miles of range (don't turn on the climate because that knocks it down to 160 miles), dealer says they are working on a fix. But won't look at the car.

You may want to look at the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Rated for 360 mile range on a 100% charge, and Hyundai's been doing $7,500 cashback to offset the ineligibility for federal credits. And if you're really lucky, your state won't charge sales tax—NJ didn't for mine.

What's the math on the wear and tear and depreciation on your vehicle in 2k miles compared to rental costs + fuel?
If we took the wife's suv, X5M, tires alone would be around that as it eats a set ever 12k miles.

I mean why have a Tesla on display at a car meet? Or any car that is still stock and not from several decades ago or otherwise rare. No one wants to see regular traffic parking in the spots for the cars people came to see, I don't care if it's a Tesla or a hellcat, if it's stock no one needs to see it I will look up Up the manufacturers photos if I want to see one.
People flock to my porshe 718 gt4 rs, bone stock. Tesla isn't stock.

I was at a party with an expresident flag on the wall (guess what president hint the flag was huge, at least 8 feet tall). I was In a group of guys (owner included) and they started pooping on EV. I said I would love a Tesla. They starting going off on typical right wing stuff. I said wait a minute I don't care about that I want to go 0-60 in under 2 seconds I don't even think the mustang with nos I saw in highschool could do that in under 2 seconds. The owner of the house spoke up in agreement and started talking how great it would be to own that electric car.
Some ice people can't fathom that they're losing amd will likely be left behind. I'm sure there were some steam engine guys who took it on the chin also, when it comes to power electric is where we will be. (Most of the largest machines on earth are electric, wonder why)

I am going to tell you why this will not work with hopes someone will prove me wrong. When I drove an electric forklift we swapped batteries when we needed. We had 2 assigned batteries per forklift. Batteries don't last forever. The company did a battery refresh and I got a new battery first. Someone noticed my battery lasted longer and wrote their number on my new battery and took my new battery. (The saddest part was they recycled a new battery).

My point is batteries will be at different points in their life and I would never want to swap my good new battery.
I would think that the batteries would get regular inspections. The charging system itself could monitor the health of the battery and notify whatever company if any batteries are going bad which would then signal for a technician to either repair the battery or replace it.

Of course this would require regulation that all vehicles are designed around one battery style and they are easily accessible in order to replace them on a regular basis.

Great deal for sure but I heard issues with their DC fast charging make it so it won't be able to go long distances. Something like lowering the charge rate after it's been DC fast charged 2x or so times in a 24hr period. I read this a while back so maybe it's different now but something to look out for if you are in the market.
Sounds like the story of every EV nowadays, haha
they claim like 300, and you get half. vW is the same 💩 .

No AC or heat or kills the range, short range, no dealer support. I see why you like this car.

Just filled up my car and my range is 545 miles. I can drive a whole month until next fill up needed.

Any Toyota Preius owners can post yours? Maybe they are in the upper 600 range.

The new Preius looks nice but not for $35k.

I was referring to dc fast charging on a road trip. Most evs you can go to as many stops as you need. Toyota and Subaru limit your charge speed after the first 2 so it'll take forever to charge if you try to go long distances in a day (500+ miles). Again, this was information from its release so I'm not sure if it changed but was bringing it up as it's something to know or look into.

What kind of shit tires last only 12,000 miles? That seems more like a tire issue than a vehicle issue unless you're drag racing on the regular.

Yeah but are you regularly making 200-mile trips? The people who make these arguments about not needing more gasoline for 500+ miles fail to realize that EVs charge at home overnight so the 40 miles you may drive in one day is not going to leave you stranded by any means. There are pros and cons to both options.

The same could be said for gasoline. They promise 40mpg on highway but that's only in the most ideal situations as well. Something like 55mph with windows up and no AC on. Or 30mpg in the city but they don't mention what circumstances they used to determine "city" driving like the number of stop lights, stop and go traffic, speed you're driving

I know a family that went solar, totally, selling excess back, etc. they also charge their cars with their solar. It's like having your own oil well. So, during the blackouts a few years ago, they went merrily on while people were suffering in the heat, panicking, filling their tanks, plain going crazy as people do when their conveniences are at risk. Made me think differently.
They have full battery storage? That's not an entirely cheap option.

That's my stance. I can't wait up to an hour to charge a car, and don't feel comfortable going up to 80% w/the mentality that I can finish it out "later"

Nah, I wanna be able to get that car charged up and ready to hit the highway again, as anyone w/kids knows how each minute is PRECIOUS and waiting around at a random ass establishment or a walmart parking lot just ain't what it do.
You driving 250+ miles a day? Poor kids.

Recently some ioniq 6 owners got a battery 🔋 replacement quote as $60,000. Good luck 🤞🏽

175 Miles on a full charge? Man, I would absolutely love an ev. But my Toyota hybrid gets 615 miles on a tank with good driving. I will have to wait for some major advancements in the EV car market
They need to quit with the big push on EVs. Hybrid is the way. Oh, and the 12 year old Chicom kids mining this cr*p for the batteries in China thank you for your support.

Until they make an EV which fully recharges in 15-20 mins (this is the time taken to refill gas, use the restroom and grab something to munch on while I'm on long trips) I'll be avoiding these for now. As it stands, Toyota's hydrogen engines look more promising.
Tesla 2022 Model Y went from 30% to 80% in 12 minutes on Tesla V2 supercharger in the snow with every charging stall full, South Tahoe area by the Holiday Market. Friends of ours bought the Toyota hydrogen powered vehicle two years ago and it's been a nightmare due to infer structure always down resulting in them having to get a rental (covered by Toyota). Nobody wants to buy it and the dealer doesn't want to trade it in. Garbage….

This a great deal! Our 10 yr old Honda minivan eats more than $241 in gas every month and we have solar so basically free recharging. This will not work for road trips though, we'll keep the minivan for that. Just gotta convince the wife the math works on this.
