What makes this a slickdeal if it is the same price?
It's not. Likely posted because Ubiquiti has a hard time keeping much of anything in stock.

Ugh 2.5 gbit ethernet and wan only. Google's 2gbit plan sucks (it's not symmetric, only 1 gbit up), Next decent plan up is 5 gbit, which is twice as much as this thing can handle. Wish the Dream Machine wasn't so bulky. Guess I'll wait a few years, it's not like I'm anywhere close to maxing out the 1gbit plan.

If this had POE it would be fantastic.

Doesn't seem to even be wall-mountable? Can't find a manual with more details.

Does this come with the Russian hacking out of the box or is it available as a firmware upgrade?

Not defending Ubiquiti as I don't care but also clarifying in case anyone stumbles upon this post.
I'm not sure a link to an issue with EdgeRouter has any relevance when this thread is not about EdgeRouter.

Also that vulnerability required users to both leave default credentials in place as well as expose the management interface to the internet. It doesn't absolve Ubiquiti but to do that a user needs a fair amount of knowledge and should know to change the default credentials. Also their setup process now requires that you change the default credentials during the setup process so they have addressed it.

Ordered this right when I saw it announced to replace an edgerouter lite, should be here tomorrow. I already have a U7-pro to pair it with so we shall see what kind of performance I can get out of the pair.

I'm happy I ditched ubiquiti for routing at home... I am using a Firewalla Purple as a router.

Unifi is still my switches and wifi APs at home. But tesitng TP-Link which is better value hardware; IMHO Unifi is overpriced for what hardware they give out for the $ - a single admin panel for everything is nice but you end up paying double.
you linked a $200-300 device(?)

I want something with two 2.5g WAN (fiber+cellular backup) and VPN tunnel. Any suggestions other than this device?

Same feeling..
If it had a couple POE ports I could've connected an IW AP and a downstream Lite 5port switch, and retired my other 8port UI switch . I've been trying to get the core components to take the lowest power consumption so I can have it run on backup longest on power failure. For some reason UI switches are power hungry, take 6w when most other switches are under 1w.
Also have dual-wan with a TMO hotspot phone.

Basically have the Internet connection resilient to both power and ISP failure for longest time.

But I did buy the UCG ultra last week and just set it up to replace my PFsense. Working great, no regrets. Dual-wan fail over works smoothly also.. better than PFsense which always had weirdnesses..

I don't think so. I think manufacturing is trying to keep up with demand.
Yep, chip shortages are still a thing. It's way better but demand for these is also through the roof. Lots of USG replacements to make.

But you don't need the cloud key. I run unify AP's with a PC app I haven't touched in a year. This is for consumers who don't want to mess with a networking rack to hold the UDM pro. For a full 2.5 router, this is on the value side. I don't know of any other for this price, other than the Omaha ER707-M2, which only has a single 2.5 LAN port, depending on your config.
