But you don't need the cloud key. I run unify AP's with a PC app I haven't touched in a year. This is for consumers who don't want to mess with a networking rack to hold the UDM pro. For a full 2.5 router, this is on the value side. I don't know of any other for this price, other than the Omaha ER707-M2, which only has a single 2.5 LAN port, depending on your config.
True, thats how i started and found it to be royal pain to have PC on to make changes unles just have 1 pc.. for those that want cloud key then UDMp is better buy since you get cloud and lot more features and performance for cheaper.

I have a feeling that if you turn on site filtering that this will drop below 1Gbps
The UCG-Ultra has been tested at the rated 1Gbps with IPS/IDS on and this one already lists the drop from 2.5 to 1.5 Gbps if turned on, so I'd say it's likely accurate.

I want to upgrade my router with something like this. I like the APs I have (Asus) but the router software is hard to use and set up. I can't decide between this and an edge router.

Got UCG-Ultra last week.
If another had POE ports I'd replace with it.. so I can retire another POE switch taking 6W. Also need controller on it, don't want another device for it.

Any UCGs coming with POE ports?
What about the Dream Router? it has 2 PoE ports.

Don't go with an Edge Router (Edge OS) if you find the ASUS router OS hard to setup, it's more challenging and idiosyncratic than Unifi OS. Also, you probably don't want this but the UCG-Ultra which has the Unifi Network App built in.

Cortex A53 ARM processor is released in 2012, yes over 10 years ago. Not sure why UI doesn't user a faster more modern processor. The cost difference maybe only a few bucks.

UCG ultra only has 1G uplink, many house has faster speed from ISPs now. Also A53 Arm is something released in 2012, UI always seems to release something either missing this or missing that.

I mean, you can easily google stats for speeds in the US (which this product link is for): https://www.speedtest.net/global-...ted-states

So, most people are not getting close to 1Gbps. Even if they have the option, it often does not make much sense considering pricing and most consumer home bandwidth requirements. Regardless, people should be reading the spec sheet and if they have higher bandwidth requirements they can grab something else.

The age of the chipset is fairly irrelevant, it can handle the stated bandwidth with some overhead to allow for IDP/IDS filtering to still maintain the 1Gbps symmetric speeds. The convenience, relative simplicity, and control are the main selling points over the raw specs. Needing to run a separate network appliance for most users does not seem as compelling to me, especially since the person I was responding to is having issues with even an ASUS router.

Because it makes no difference and is adequate. The Motorola 68k processor was developed in the late 70's and is still in use today because paying for faster modern CPU's is just unnecessary in some applications.

If you need a higher performance router, there are lots of other options.

Yep, chip shortages are still a thing. It's way better but demand for these is also through the roof. Lots of USG replacements to make.
...and there were just severe earthquakes in Taiwan. Let's just say, that ain't gonna help.

Been rocking my USG 3 for over 10 yrs now. Don't remember when I got it exactly. Since then added 3 APs and a 24 port switch.

Been mostly happy with their stuff. Not always perfect but can't say I wished I had something different.

The Cloud Gateway Ultra is in stock currently. I'd get it but don't really need it. I just want it for IDS and newer toys. Sadly the USG won't die, like my LG TV I bought in 2013 argh die already so my wife will release the funds for a bigger tv
