Probably the only knife you'll ever need, it's the strongest fixed" folder I ever used in my camping bag, I tried to edc it, but it looks a little" aggressive when you want to cut your little one's food at a fast food spot lol.
If your worried about someone's reaction, you ain't livin
I have this, I like it but for those that don't have this, understand what you are getting into. As the other post mentioned, this thing is big, maybe too big for edc, size and weight. Also, like the other post said.... other people's reaction to a large knife is different than a smaller knife doing the exact same thing. Same as the same person wearing a regular t-shirt to work which nobody will bat an eye. Vs the same person wearing sleeveless "wife beater" shirt which has the cultural meaning of "I'm a tool" in many places. Good knife, strong locking mechanism, but it really is a big knife.

Do you clean the knife off with antiseptic or alcohol before cutting your kids food? Actually curious if people carry alcohol swabs for this purpose or something.

Lol seriously

If my sole purpose for that day is to cut food for my little one, the day of" I will dish dawn soap the knife, and depending on what my options are, go into a bathroom and wash off with hot water, if I have no access, I'll use napkins to wipe all the grease off until I get home for a dawn dish bath. Been doing this since I was little and I have never gotten sick.

This is a very large knife. If you're patient, sometimes you can catch it on MidwayUSA for $37.50 when they have it for $49.99 plus their 25 percent off SOG/Cold Steel sales, which happen quite frequently.

is this no spring assist, on a smooth bearing pivot? or has it got an assist? seems like sometime the kershaw's don't have a coiled spring but just the bar lock pushing on it springiness gives them similar opening feel to assisted open knives

No spring assist but it has gravity and inertia working for it. The blade is heavy enough that once you get it moving, it will continue until the lock engages.

I tend to give a little bit of a wrist flick to ensure lock-up. The only issue I have had is with the larger Cold Steel knives with six inch blades. Which are basically just ridiculous knives to carry for any reason.

This one goes on sale at MidwayUSA for $37.50 every so often. It's a massive and heavy folder. The tri-ad lock is very strong. I recommend watching size comparisons for this folder on YouTube before buying unless you know you want a giant folder.

Amazin knife. I bought it a couple of months ago for the same price. It is very sharp and big. I wouldn't consider this EDC but for camping, it would be good.

Cold steel knives always look like pocket machetes too big for each, the lock on these are a pain to deal with, struggle unlocking the knife half the time. Those who wants to just flick out a fat knife to intimidate people this is for you.

For anyone who has also grown tired of feeling large knives in their pockets, I'd like to point out that the SRK is currently $38.95:

amongst many other non-folding alternatives.

I'm confused why Cold Steel which was bought out by GSM and now makes knockoff junk under the Cold Steel name is getting great comments on this knife whereas SOG who was bought out by GSM and now makes knockoff junk under the SOG name is getting accurately negative comments.
You guys know Cold Steel was bought by GSM before SOG was right?
I've heard the same rumors and fears floating around lots of online forums about the Cold Steel buyout. Do you have any personal experience with recently produced knives that Cold Steel/GSM is making actually being junk? Or are we all simply spreading the same rumor and fears?

So instead of a big knife in my pocket, I'd have a big knife on my thigh? 🤣

I got this a few months ago for roughly the same price. It's a fun chonk if you just want an enormous knife. Slicing things is obviously pretty difficult due to how thick the actual blade is, but I don't think anyone buys these for practicality.

Just as an FYI, I know your a mod and all that, but one of the other mods might give you a warning that is none too pleasant to get, about not responding to trolls. Who knows what or where on topic is vs off topic or what is or is not allowed in policy.
