Even called apple support and was think "I think the headphones I just bought from someone are fake - is there a way to verify?" And they confirm that they are real.
The sound quality was very good - little bass heavy. The controls were kind of crappy though. Hanging up phone calls, stuff like that.
Cant complain for $30 though. Im sure the average boomer would be fooled.

Couldn't get the case light to turn amber no matter what I did.
Swipe for volume didn't work.
Adaptive noise cancellation didn't work.
Precision find didn't work.
Noise cancellation didn't work.
Couldn't find firmware version in settings.
Spatial Audio didn't work.
At this point I think the sure fire way to spot fakes before using is looking at the serial number. The AirPod case serial should match the box but each AirPod should have different numbers.

If you look on the site I linked, they are only missing a feature or two at this point. ANC is good but not as good as genuine. And the icloud features. Besides that the newest 5.2 versions that are out are indistinguishable ive heard.

The last pair I had passed multiple checks, and those arent even as good as the most recent ones that have been released (5.2).
