There is no point paying for something you can't maximize its benefits.
The BEST options for NVMe SSD enclosures are 40Gbps with USB-C 4 / Thunderbolt and usually made out of high quality solid aluminum casing for efficient heat dissipation and design. Current pricing for a well known brand is going to be around $80 or more.
• If your computer/device does not support 40Gbps transfer rate, it may work but you will not achieve the maximum rated performance.
First you need to figure out what is the fastest transfer rate your device supports. Then search for an enclosure that offers the best reliability, design and price.

Perfect for expansion on my Hello Kitty themed Series X.
Oh, well, if you "have to admit"...
Aside from needing a different cable, I've never had an issue with any brand enclosure, as they're all using the same two chipsets.
It's either a Realtek or Jmicron and all enclosures with these chipsets share the same firmware base. Most firmware updates have improved performance, but there's also some fixes included.
If you don't update the firmware, any issues they've resolved are on you.
