Seems like a good enough deal if you need a cheaper tacklebox. My kids fish and I asked them, the hooks aren't the type they use and I looked them up and would probably cost about $6-8 alone. So for a new cheaper tacklebox with some tackle, not bad. My kids have tackle boxes that they like and might not use the hooks so I guess I'll pass.

Not many fishermen use plastic old style tackle boxes anymore. Most use tackle bags because of the trays you can insert and replace when they get old. Plus bags have pockets and side loops to help store and carry all your gear. Not to mention shoulder straps for walking trails or piers, etc. That being said, this is a great deal for someone just getting started or for kids to have their own boxes and not fight over them.

Well I have the Flambeau T5, lots of trays, 7, 2 small side ones.

It stays home. It's huge, heavy.

With fly fishing I prefer a small soft tactical box that is like a pack, lots of pockets.

But with saltwater or fresh water baitcasters, spinning reels, i prefer one of these old 3 tray tactical boxes.

Both are just dirty that fly fishing.

Why?

Bass plastic can be oily, salty, or both, I don't want oily fabric stains nor that smell you can get from scented plastic. Don't under estimate how dirty they can get. Every time you need to touch the fabric with dirty hands.

Flies are easy to dry, can go back into storage in no time, so small fabric packs work well..

Saltwater, I don't want saltwater creeping into everything with a fabric tray tactical box. It is just too easy to get it wet. Rust is a real problem.

I simply transfer what I need to a cheap 3 tray tactical box.
I can keep the wet lures, baits separated from the dry.

When washing off at the end of the day the whole tackle box can be rinsed out, salt, sand, whatever.

I don't want to carry a museum of baits in trays.

So, yes I think these tray tactical boxes have a purpose. Certainly easier to see every thing night surf fishing.

At ten bucks for this, the storage? I think one of my largest tuff trays for the T5 runs $8 or so to replace.

If you hike a lot, yeah a hard tackle box is going to get annoying. But I still prefer it to zip pocket finding stuff driving myself nuts, or flipping through multiple trays.

We have a separate tackle bag for saltwater and one big one that has all our panfish, bass and catfish stuff. I live in Louisiana, so not a lot of fly fishing, but my dad used to use a fly fishing rid for catching bream and bluegill. They would hit that fly or bug on top of the water so fast. These days, I mostly use crickets for panfish, which work well in our lakes and bayous. I agree about bass fishing plastics being oily and scented, but we just keep them in their own plastic trays. The problem here is that I've had them begin to melt on the boat if it's a very hot day and we are on the water for a long time. I have to store them under the boat seat on those 110 degree days, lol
