Environmentally yes, but at least it's one less product that it's entirety isn't plastic

You could use a different straw. I've been using my glass straws with these cups. They're pretty great honestly.

sounds like it. If only the lid was made of stainless steel or metal. I might just wash my old pasta jar and use it as a drinking one
