Can this draw power through the laptop, or does it require its own 30W plug in addition?

Connect with a single cable
When connected using the provided USB Type-C cable, the monitor powers up simultaneously, allowing for a hassle-free single-cable setup for efficient plug-and-play operation. Easy switching between monitors is also supported. (Power supply: 15W+)

It requires power via the adapter. The power requirement for this monitor is 20W and hardly any Type-C port from Laptop can output that. Also, if you scroll down to the bottom where all the details are listed, you'll see that the working power is 20W.

For those that don't know, many cell phones work well with an external monitor. Samsung even has a full desktop experience called Dex. This would be a potential use case for a display like this. If you can get by normally with just your phone, then the addition of an external monitor could be helpful on the occasion when you need to be more productive.

While I think that 1440p is probably overkill, the touch-screen and speakers would provide value in this type of use-case.

For this price, 100% DCI-P3 coverage is also an added benefit as almost all the chinese portable monitors you see in Amazon at sub $200 price, just covers 100% sRGB. If you're using this with a powerful laptop, then can be a very good companion for Video and Photo editing.

One thing to note - if the display is connected via a single USB-C cable and you're using Windows 11 , then the touch screen by default only works if this display is set as the primary/main display. It's not an issue or fault of the display. The same applies other branded USB touchscreen monitors. It's just a weird thing with Windows 11. To make this the secondary display and still allow for touch functionality - you have to go into Tablet PC Settings and enable that option. See here:

It says in the product description that it doesn't require power and only a single cable through USB-C. I have an OLED portable panel by INNOCN [amazon.com] a lot like this, and it only takes a single cable to power it and give it video and audio, even with my smallest PC devices, the Steam Deck, and my phone. I tested them again just now and took pics (but have no way to upload them here).

The adapter is for powering the panel when you are using the HDMI cable, or for passthrough charging. I can connect this panel to its charger, and then to my Steam Deck and it will give video/audio and charge my Steam Deck at the same time. Works with my Switch and Windows tablet too.

EDIT: Figured out how to upload the pics.

If the Type-C port can outpur 15W of power then it will be able to so for this Monitor. They mentioned that in the product page: -

This problem also can come up in Windows 10 and is harder to address (Windows 11 has pushed this forward into an easier to find settings option).

Good luck!

Just received this finally, screen quality is nice but two major complaints, the stand/cover has no instructions how to install. It is also very bulky and does not attach securely so your constantly adjusting the magnets. Also I was having trouble running 144 Hertz on the provided HDMI cable, it kept buzzing making funny noises, it seems the provided cable cannot handle 144 Hz output.

Agreed, I received mine and trying to figure out how the sleeve/cover thingy was supposed to work took way more time than it should. I get it now but man it was irritating.

I'll have to try the 144hz with the HDMI cable. It worked great with the single USB-C setup on my 780xtx.
