Damn wtf happened the price? The price is $33.5 per oz and $6 over spot now! And $32.16 after 4% for those of you who have it. $5 over spot with discounts.

Hard pass on this one.

That doesn't change the fact that this is by far the largest premium they've ever sold thes under. They have ranged from $3 to now $6 over spot. The average has been just under $5 over spot premium IIRC.

This tube is about $8 cheaper at Walmart. So this Costco deal is not that good.

$653.20 @ Walmart

I'd purchase 3 of these 20-count tubes to avoid my state tax ($2000+ for CA). Total comes to $2,009.97 which meets the minimum req by $10. 3 tubes from Walmart falls a little short of the CA min so I'd need to buy 4 tubes to avoid state tax. The 4% Costco cashback brings it down to $1,929.57 or $643.19 per tube. Not bad given the post run-up prices.

Some other dealers for comparison:
Apmex $813.75 with credit card or $781.20 using check/wire transfer.
JMBullion $823.75 CC or $790.80 check/wire
SDBullion $771.28 CC or $740.43 check/wire
Monument Metals $696.80 CC or $670.00 check/wire
Bold Precious Metals $686.82 (pre-order)

eBay (Bullion LLC) $659.40
eBay (BGASC) $659.42
eBay (Apmex) $665.20

Also, you can find a tube of 20 ASEs for slightly cheaper if you aren't particular about the date. The above mentioned prices are for 2024 mintages just to keep it apples to apples.

Thanks for the homework. I was waiting for Costco to sell silver coins again, but I passed on this deal. Yes, you might get 4% cash back (2% for being an Executive member and about 2% from your credit card), but you should also get 2% for using your credit card on other sites. So the math brings the silver tube from Costco to prices very similar to other websites like Walmart, thus making this deal disappointing because I'm accustomed to buying bullion from Costco at a market-low price in addition to getting cash back.

Now I am waiting for the Silver Maple tubes.

True true. Although Costco is still relatively cheap, I don't see this making frontpage like some of the past deals. Personally, I think we will see more upside in the months to come but It's hard to bite at current prices when we're used to prices before the recent run-up. The bull run will be fun for those who own yet will become harder and harder for those who are waiting to jump in. Consensus seems to think that we're due for a pullback soon. Will see!

Reminds me of Japanese whisky. They collected dust for many years...decades even. One year, the Suntory Yamazaki 18 made "Whisky of the Year" which kicked off the boom. All whiskies including bourbon went on a wild multi-year bull run.

better to buy generics than silver eagles this is a premium of 20-30%.
the mint is very very greedy.
these are not suppose to be collectibles.
this also means the mint isn't taking delivery of the silver from comex to mint more making them worthless buying from them to raise price of silver.

best is to gain certification and take delivery from comex.

Crazy. Remember 2020? It wasn't long ago when ASE premiums spiked over 100% of spot. Not certain but I thought it was more of dealers matching outrageous market demand. There were times when dealers were buying ASEs back for spot+premium because they knew they could still flip them for a profit.

Have you obtained certification and taken delivery of Comex bars? I haven't and I'm guessing hardly anyone has. First barrier would be the sheer size and price. Second, to the best of my knowledge, is that the process is not user-friendly. There's a YT video of a guy who documented his experience via Interactive Brokers and they gave him hell. A small handful of dealers have taken on the burden of selling full and fractional Comex bars since. Probably easier to go that route.
