Buyer beware. I tried buying one about 2 weeks ago. UPS delivered it but all I got was an empty package. I had to call Costco up immediately to report it. I am still waiting for my refund.
I bought 2 last week from Costco. UPS delivered in Urgen packages with 3 layers. So no issue at all.

Three things that could have happened:
1. Coin selling company employee pocketed coin/coins and mailed out empty package
2. UPS employee opened package and took out coin/coins, sealed back package and delivered empty package
3. Buyer/receiver received package with coin/coins and lied about package being empty

None of the above has anything to do with Costco.

It is not coins, it's a gold bar.
It irrelevant whether it's a coin or bar.

I'd agree that Costco would be the party to contact and will leave it at that.

When I bought last week, I saw they have an option to ship to warehouse and pick up there, and picked it, but somehow it was still shipped to my house. Maybe it works now, and I will try again next time.

yes, the liability falls on Costo to deliver in your hands, that is the contract every online retailer is bound to when you order something, or else it will be wild wild west buddy from seller's point of view..

A signature is required for gold and silver. UPS would not leave the package at the door without a signature. I have never had a major problem with Costco in over 20 years. You must sign for a package that contains gold and silver. I will order from Costco any day and any night!!!

I was chatting with my UPS driver during my delivery and he knew it was a set of gold bars. Not sure if the word is out or if they can see how much it is insured for but thought it super interesting as the package was not marked.

In upstate South Carolina both UPS and Fedex will absolutely leave it at your door even if marked for signature. It is random and you never know when or why. This includes one of my gold orders being left on my front porch.
