Wyze works perfectly well without a subscription. Why spread misinformation here? I have no problem with you hating Wyze, but why lie?
Wyze cannot fast forward through recordings. Stay away!

I have 3 of these and realized this really sucks when you want to review what happened.

Wyze Software always tries to upsell you on everything. Even with their premium plan you can't fast forward a recording? :smh:
Had to remove my Wyze installation. Was very unreliable for some reason. Constant software updates didn't help.

Now I need to look on the wyze website to compare the "garage sale" cost to see which is cheaper... I really want to a nas- NVR setup, and not have to pay somebody subscription fees, but I have no idea how to go about that. I have an old gaming computer from 2012, with an i5 in it, I guess I could convert it into a home assistant and put some large storage to it..

It all depends on your budget and what type of cameras you can use. Wireless, IP Camera, POE IP Camera, etc. Ubiquiti Protect is on the expensive end but makes it super easy. I run Lorex IP Cameras with their NVR and it works good enough (has its own quirks). Blueiris has been long regarded as a great NVR software so if you want to repurpose your desktop you could look into that.

Go with Eufy 2k or 4k camera. Day and night difference image quality wise.

No cooling off period between recordings and no subscription needed as well.

which ones? Don't they require their homebase to work?

I just bought the new Wyze v4 it's 2K and def. better than previous versions but still not great for zooming in on distance for face or license plate numbers.

Is that without a local SD card?

Just switched to Wyze. Hated having to use a homebase. Wyze v4 has good quality.

There are many 2k cheap ones from them do not require homebase. In fact, most indoor ones don't need homebase. The outdoor 4k ones usually need homebase. I have a wide range of their 2k/4k cameras for almost two years, no issues at all. My favorite now is S350. Yes it's more expensive than Wyze, but high image quality, local storage, no subscription fee, makes them absolutely reliable and worth it.

Limited to 2.4. No 5G. Many routers are dual 2.4 and 5G.
