Any reason why you are considering this model if you already have the 516 GE? I've been looking at both to replace my old trusty C302CA (finally)

516GE Benefits: Bigger screen, higher resolution, 120Hz,
CX9 Benefits: Lightweight, better battery life, built-in mSD card reader.
If you're going to take this out and about, I would suggest the CX9. If it's just a couch laptop like mine, then I would go with the 516GE.

I keep waffling over RAM between these two, even though I know I don't necessarily need 16 GB. I don't plan on routinely taking this device on the road, but I also don't want the laptop to ultimately be unwieldy either, hence the extended look at this deal on the CX9. I know that there's a sizeable jump in CPU power between these two i5s with the jump to 12th gen on the 516 GE, but I wonder how well power draw is managed even though TDP on paper is the same.
The irony is that the 16GB is wasted on the CX9. There's a 16GB 516 GE, but I've never seen one in the real world. But the 16GB would provide *some* benefit to playing games via Steam installed locally. They both have Iris Xe graphics, but neither will play much more than some basic Steam games. There's an official list of compatible games on a Chromebook using the Steam beta. Just Google it. I had some fun playing Rise of Nations installed locally on the 516 GE. It's a 20 year old game. It still shit the bed after 90 minutes. Crashed, done. Game over. Oh well. But it's really not something I would focus on. Nice, but not necessary. Maybe more valuable when you're playing with Linux, but that's about it IMO.

Indeed - torture is the right term here, esp given that I really won't be gaming either way. I think that's why I haven't fully committed to the 516 GE, which has been available from Acer refurbished for $273 on eBay for weeks now off and on. I know that screen would be nice, but then I'm sure I'll have some reservation about the size if I had it in hand vs the more nimble sizing I'm used to when I need to just pop open a Chromebook for general usage.

Every review I have found complains about the battery life of the CX9, but all of those had the i7. One even said it was the worst battery life of any CB. I'm sure battery life will be longer with i3 or i5 but so much so that it would be considered a benefit?
