Quote from john9 :
Half of a $3 pineapple is the core, rind, and stem, which leaves ~1lb of edible pineapple (about 80% water) after chopping it up, and goes bad in a week. Half of a pineapple, cut, dried and packaged for you for $1 seems like a good deal.
You can typically buy pineapples for $1-2. Pineapples usually range from around 2-8 pounds. On average, expect to get a pineapple around 40 oz at a grocery store. About 25 oz of that is fruit before dehydration. Pineapples are approximately 86 percent water and normal fruit dehydration is 80/20 (Removes 80 percent/maintains 20 percent water) So you would 3.5 oz of pineapple unaffected by dehydration (14 percent that isn't water). That would leave 36.5 oz of pineapple that is water and 20 percent of that would be retained. 36.5 x .20 = 7.3 oz. So half of a pineapple would be 7.3 oz + 3.5 oz or just over 10 oz divided by 2 (for half). Unless there is 5 oz of pineapple in that wrapper, you are getting ripped off. And that's assuming they're working with smaller pineapples.

tiny pineapples look at the picture, but even that, it's doubtful there's a whole half of a pineapple, because look at the calories. I think it was 70 cal? That's the size of an apple and I don't think these are dehydrated. They are cold pressed, so I guess they're really tiny pineapples. you would think they would put a layer of wax paper on them so acidic fruit wouldn't be marinating in plastic!

I love their mango version of these. Going to try the pineapple now, thanks!
They had these at Costco the Mango ones are super tasty without extra sugar and sulfites like those dried mango bags.
