Short story is many ppl didn't like the look compared to the original more pointed shape called "True Last", which were a bit narrow for some, so the newest "Kingmaker Last" solves the issue by being wider while keeping the pointier look.

Google "RT3 vs Kingmaker" for some comparison pics. Honestly, it's pretty minor difference and really all down to personal preference. Just beware what you're getting since the Warehouse Sale listings don't seem to use accurate pictures, and it's no return/final sale.

And before you go "But the Iron Rangerssss!!" no, they are much wider. Would not dress up either of my pairs of IR's, but you can easily do so with Presidents.
Obviously, the IR's are better for work. It's for a different market.

My Thursday boots get easily chipped and scraped at the sole and the feel is not good sturdy fit.
If rw really bothers that much on fashion which I can see, there is always Edmonds and a handful other business dress casual brands that look as good and possible cheaper.
IMO, the quality to price point just not there like how it's advertised.
It isn't just a little bit more to jump from the $199 Thursday boot range to the $300+ range of Red Wings. For the price it's fairly good and they haven't raised the price unlike other brands. They are also pretty transparent on the materials used and how they are made. Not bad for about $199.
I ordered a pair of their brown storm king captains, and they arrived with stitching defect, where the stitching didn't penetrate completely and was unraveling.
Even though it was a final sale, they still honor replacements for defects... However they didn't have the same size and style boot to send me a replacement, so we agreed on the next closest style.
They also did not request I return the boots, so I didn't have to deal with the "hassle" of a return. I didn't mind to return, but OK I guess.
