Just my $.02 from my personal home experience having to maintain stuff like metal railings, gates, spindles and wall mounted light fixtures exposed to the california outdoor elements all year round. Personally, the ideal texture is either satin or semi-gloss (nice look and provides wipe-ability) BUT in less than 6 months these finishes become flat black (signs of fading and chalkboard like) so I switched over to gloss black and found that in a few months it turns into the texture I like and keeps that look for a longer time as compared if I started with satin paint.

If the project is in a bathroom then I would go with semi-gloss, if anywhere else inside the house like kitchen and baseboard trim then I would go with satin.

This gloss paint is very thin and requires multiple coats, especially on bare wood. Go for the satin finish instead.

About $7 a can at Home Depot, so this is a pretty good deal if you need more than 3-4 cans of it

Good to know. Are you implying satin / other blacks are thicker?

Does this advice apply regardless of application method, since the OP are cans of spray paint? I assume you're using brushes in your bathroom.

Based on YouTube videos I've watched, it would take ~20 cans to cover a whole car (2000 Honda Accord) with about 2 coats. Since a 1994 Civic is slightly smaller, I'd approximate you would need about ~16 cans.

Now, where can I find this deal in red to paint my 2001 Honda Accord? Lol.
