This is my favorite cpu of in the intel 13th gen. Performs like a champ and can be tamed easily at 65W even with the stock cooler. Perfect for a plex/proxmox server or an hybrid productivity / gaming config.

Hmm.. current have an i5-9500, wondering if I should bite the bullet and upgrade or just wait until 15th comes out. Prices should fall more by then?

I'd have to assume this is for gaming, if you really had heavy multicore (Cinebench like) needs you'd have something else already.
So for that, I'd say no. Don't get me wrong it would be about a 5% increase, maybe up to 10% in some games (mostly due to core clock speed, some from the additional cache). But it's not going to significantly change your current experience.

Unlike the 12400F this would be a sizeable upgrade. The 13500 p-cores are 50-60% faster than the cores from the 9500. And they're hyper-threaded. And that's before we even mention e-cores.

That said, will prices fall after the next announcements/launches from AMD and Intel? Yes. Smilie
How much? idk. But I will say this, especially after the the intel launch, socket 1700 is officially dead end to even the normies who don't pay attention to future launches. The price cuts (which have already started) should be substantial.

This would be a huge upgrade from your i5-9500. Next gen wont launch for another 6 months. Prices are already quite low due to competition, so I dont think they will fall much more for the foreseeable future
