I've had it for 2 years and it's been great. I take it out on the deck, in the garage, vacation, etc. I don't leave it plugged in or on the charger constantly. When I'm not using it I turn it off, never had a problem. At this price it's a no brainer.

This speaker gets a lot of hate, but at this price it's a no-brainer. I use it when I take the wifey to the hot springs and you can hear the vocals clearly over the sound of the jets.

This speaker is great for the bathroom. It's survived a year of very hot and steamy showers so far. Also, this is an incredible price for it.

Honestly, given that the undependable firmware and just-pretty-good sound (in my experience and opinion) this is what the unit is worth.

Of course, this is a great price, so if you really want this, it is a slick deal.

These are ok. I was really excited about them and purchased 3 pairs as gifts. Initially, everybody loved them, but there have been problems:
  • One recipient has had BOTH speakers fail within 18 months. SONOS replaced the first one out of warranty, but it was a headache dealing with support and I don't have the energy to deal with it for the second. I suspect that they have a quality issue and perhaps that's why it's now selling so cheaply.
  • These cannot be stereo paired on bluetooth. If you want a stereo pair, you are stuck with wifi (other similar competitive speakers have this capability)
  • One recipient went to college, and is on a highly restricted network. The networking required for these to operate together means that they cannot be joined to the wifi network, which means they are bluetooth only (and that means no stereo pairing as noted in the first item).
I think for this price, it's probably worth it, even knowing that the failure rate may be high (and mine were "early" purchases so maybe that's been corrected). I may replace the broken one.

Agree with comments. Performance is worst among their product line, but decent; speaker broke outside of warranty: battery is just ok. That said, price is good and Sonos replaced mine even though outside of warranty.

I had the same experience. I purchased as a pre order before release directly from Sonos and the power button was finicky right out of the box. Performance was subpar and I ended up not using it much. Right outside of warranty I tried to use it one day and it was completely dead, however, Sonos replaced it with no questions asked at no charge. The new one was been functioning without issue and is used in my bathroom unless needed it is elsewhere. For $90, I would say it's a decent buy if you're already invested in the Sonos ecosystem but don't expect it perform like other Sonos products.

For anyone who has this, can you just leave it on the charger. My problem is that I don't use out BT speaker very much so when I go to use it, the batter has died.

Thanks in advance!

I've owned just about all of the smaller speakers and with the exception of the Bose SoundLink Mini 2 SE, nothing comes close
to the Sonos Roam for pure sonics. And for the record - going on two years now - I've had zero battery (or any other) issues.

Yes, I leave mine on the wireless charger all the time.

I bought the Sonos Roam during Christmas ; I give it 10 Stars. The speaker has a lot of technology built into it ; it not a typical dumb bluetooth speaker. It can even wireless charge with any Qi charger. I use the Roam all the time ; it's a great grab and go speaker. Once you get it setup ; you don't need to use the Sonos App but it's there to do things like pairing with other speakers and adjusting the equalizer. It also can turn into an Alexa speaker and a Google Assist speaker. "Alexa, play Party songs". My favorite part about the speaker is the Wireless charging (currently docked). It's always charged and Ready to Go. The wireless charger that comes with this speaker (it's a Bundle deal) easily sells for $40 on ebay ; so you are technically getting the Roam speaker for only $49.

Roam is a good speaker. I wish the stereo pairing weren't so app-dependent though.

Assuming you use Home Assistant, you can assign 2 Roam speakers to a room and then play audio in stereo pretty easily. That part is sweet.

If you attempt to use two of them as a stereo bluetooth audio device, as opposed to using the sonos app to play music, expect to have a bad time. I tried doing this with an Anker Nebula projector and never really got it working. I just settled for a single speaker, which kind of defeated the purpose.

I left mine on the charger and about a year ago it stopped charging. I plugged a USB-C cable directly into the back and it worked fine up until a couple weeks ago when it died.

I've been unable to revive it and all signs point to the battery being toast and not working without a battery.

any way to get a comp'd membership? I know there's a $30 off $50 right now... the closest Sam's Club is 40 mins away, so doesn't make sense even just to use it for the gas
