I have the last gen of this kit. IMO this is the best bang for your buck on edrums. Everything is as good as it gets for the drummers looking for the closest to the real thing. The digital ride/snare/hihats are easily worth it.

If you mean general usage -- how it feels and responds, then yes, it's awesome. It's still a mesh head so it feels like a mesh head, but it's digital and has positional sensing, so the output is faithful to an acoustic snare.

If you mean the sound, that's up to you! Some don't care for Roland's "sound signature" but I think most people do. The sound module includes probably a dozen different snares and allows you to customize them in just about any way fathomable, so it's easy (but time consuming) to get it sounding just the way you want.

Yes, the snare and hi-hat feel and sound excellent, best I have tried and sound feels real. Not convinced on the ride, it seems to have zones where it's obvious you reached a new section and sounds different. Not very organic. Still a great deal on a great kit.

This is an amazing kit. The digital snare is a game changer for edrums. Highly recommend at this price!

My only advice is spend an extra $85 to get four longer curved bars. I replaced the two middle 22-inch curved bars with 36-inch chrome Gibraltar. And replaced the two side 22-inch bars with 30-inch.

Not necessary, but it real makes this kit feel like the TD-50 series with a bigger rack. And it allows for a lot better ergonomics, I think.

This kit at this price is phenomenal! There's little difference between this and the $6,800 top of the line kit.

Word of caution, the last time they ran this deal, it only lasted one day.

Thanks for the honest review. I was about to buy this deal until I read your review. I can't get use to the feel of synth drum kits. I have a synth guitar and it's great but they haven't got the feel of the drums down yet after all these years. I played a lot for 6 months and my playing suffered.

I've never used electric drums in my pro career, looks like a fun way to practice. Concerned about the longevity, since I have to change drum heads after shows, I hit pretty hard. Do these things last, do I have to play softer than normal?

Thanks in advance

Oh these things will last you a very long time! Longevity was also a concern when I got my kit over 14 years ago. I'm a hard hitter and I play extreme metal music.
