Why does it say sardines on the can? Not doubting you, but I dunno how anyone is supposed to tell the difference.

Sardines and Herring are a generic name for these small schooling fish. You never truly know what you are getting with the cheaper brands and where they harvest them. Mostly you only know where they are canned on site.

The tins coming from the Pacific like Thailand or Vietnam will be mushy with the skin on. You can find hundreds of mini scales in the tin. Pretty gross texture. Not sure if it is the fish species or just overcooked.

None of these are true sardines, I tried the herring (jalapenos) and it was ok but I can't stand the sprats (water), it is mushy and barely any flesh.

I love usually love Beach Cliff, but the soybean oil sardines are TERRIBLE. I want to believe, I want to say this is a deal, but please save your colon. I used a case of these recently and typically had bad taste, bad gas, and only was able to make them work when washed heavily (thus losing about 40% yield)
