it's been around a month so it's not as strong, but still has that weird factory plastic/rubber smell

Other than the smell is it decent? I have some random vendor mouse pad from work from a decade ago I might as well replace.

yea it's fine otherwise
i like that it's huge compared to my old one
(although it took some getting used to using without a wrist pad/rest)

My dad was an IBM technician back before he retired in 2007. He brought home a work procedure, one time, for the proper method of cleaning mouse balls. It was as funny to read as it sounds.
