I tried to sign up with a new email for me and my wife, but used our actual phone numbers. It caught me and said to renew. I started over using a different phone number for both of us and it worked perfectly. Used the same address and everything, just new emails and phone numbers
OK - just did a new email/phone #/CC. Worked!

No go:
new email/new cc/old phone #
2 y.o. email/old phone #
I think you need a different email and phone number.

basic staples are same price at walmart or cheaper than sams club at least in my area. I made a post but it doesn't show for some reason? look up chicken breast, greek yogurt, 1 % milk and eggs. all cheaper at Walmart. no membership needed. One reason to be a member is probably for good warranty but prices aren't better on most staples.

I'd happily pay the $50 to not deal with going inside Walmart for Walmart prices

Membership fee to enter a glorified Walmart.
Sam's offers a different, better, shopping experience than Walmart. I never see any riff-raff at Sam's or the omnipresence of law enforcement vehicles in the parking lot responding to crimes. Sam's is cleaner, well stocked, and better organized. Very similar to BJ's.

After I bought the membership for $14, tried to checkout at register and was not recognizing my membership. I was scanning membership number via phone app. Employee at the register looked up and said Sam's systems have not yet updated and asked me to visit membership services team. Employee simply used scan and go via my phone and it worked . Surprisingly, a $10 savings applied on my total . So, this membership actually costed me just $4.

Sam's club is owned by Walmart. But even still, club stores don't have better prices on staples.
milk

chicken breast
https://www.samsclub.com/p/member..._product_1
vs
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bonele...1100_L1100 (ok this one is on sale but it's always on sale)

greek yogurt

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-...om=/search (~penny cheaper per oz)

eggs
https://www.samsclub.com/p/member..._product_2 (27 cents per egg)
vs
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Market...om=/search (23 cents per egg)

Anyway, you get the point. I did not even cherry pick these items. I just plugged in some items that I always buy on every grocery store trip. why buy a sams memebership when you can shop at walmart for free? even walmart pick up is free over certain amount it think.

You did cherry pick. But in any case, look at the reviews for these various products. Sams vs Walmart. Quite a gulf in opinions and experiences. These products may not be dissimilar but the way Walmart stores are managed, the haphazard way their employees handle produce, lack monitoring of inventory and product holding temperatures can lead to breakage and spoilage of the food products.

This year I have personally seen a refrigerated food section where an entire glass door was missing. The bananas are usually overripe. Eggs are usually cracked and broken. Cartons of oatmeal smashed in with broken seals. Try finding a can of dog food that's not dented and dinged. I dare you.

Sam's doesn't have these problems to anywhere near the extent as Walmart. As a customer I can sense a different culture Sam's, both from the employees and customers. Walmart's workforce is akin to post-incarceration work release program. Many Walmart employees are apathetic, lazy, and immature.

Thanks for posting the deal.

My local Walmart doesn't sell meats and seafood. And I find Sam's to have a better selection of frozen items. So for $14.00 a year, it's pretty worthwhile for me.

I see what they did. You have to hit "Cancel Membership". It says "By clicking Cancel Membership, your membership and all add-on memberships will expire on the date listed above." They are scaring you into thinking you are cancelling your membership immediately which you are not. When you "cancel" the next screen shows that your future expiration date stays the same. You'll also see the checkbox at the bottom saying "I agree to annual recurring charges on my card".

That checkbox took the place of the former auto-renew toggle.

Most companies consider you "new" if you haven't been a member for 3, 6 or 12 months and you can use all your original information which I even used on sams on a previous offer though it appears evident that is not acceptable this time.

These days, what are the remaining virtual CC providers?
1) Citi (not costco card) and 2) privacy.com (can't use CCs unfortunately)
Any others? Sorely miss BofA which was great for many years.
Also, Virtual CC not accessible through Citi Mobile app (am I missing something?)

Holy.. I bought new plus membership last month for $70. Wondering what is the best way to get the $20 credit? Sams chat said.. they will ask next level support level to look into it. But not sure if it really the case. Any suggestions to make it work?

That's the way that we were with BJ's. Only joined to buy a new TV on Black Friday. Just rejoined for $20 with $20 in rewards just for the price of their gasoline (it's closer than Sam's)

YYMV - just got a "new" membership today. Used the scan and go and got a $10 discount for no reason. I remember long ago there was a "use scan and go for your first time and get $X off" so maybe that's still going on? Makes my "new" membership $4 (plus if I get any cashback)

only people that would leave reviews of staples are for bad experiences. I picked common store brand products so they probably sell by the thousands each week. I've had a few bad products but my local walmart has been good. I did not originially comment anything about "employees". You're probably right. I simply show that if a shopper only cares about prices, walmart is better and Sam's membership cost is a waste.
