No time machine, but this was just on sale NEW for $90 more at B&H so it is likely to go on sale for around that price again. Asurion plan is $70 for 3 years. Just FYI for anyone considering this.
No, but as a courtesy, we don't want to click on the post and then realize it is a refurbished item, not a brand new if the price is too good for a brand new item.
No these have not been $500 new ever before.

I purchased this same TV and it arrived fine but when I checked the usage time, it had over 2,000 hours on it. Sent it right back.
I've had several bad encounters with woot

Being backed by Amazon doesn't seem to mean much

For $350 difference I'd recommend buying new from Costco and get the free extended warranty.
i mean... youre paying 50% more for a warranty, lol. At that point just buy two.

The HiSense miniLED look amazing. I'd get one but worried about the durability of them. Read enough bad stories from owners that it's a shame, because I honestly think the picture quality on those is the best of anything in Best Buy. They're so bright. Definitely a hard choice between a Samsung S90C and HiSense U8K for me. Very underrated from an image quality standpoint.
Do they? Because the ones I've seen in homes are no different than anything else that isnt OLED.

I picked an open box one up at Best Buy for this price. It only had 10hrs of operation and came with a full warranty. Then I purchased 5yr of the Geek Squad warranty for $125 (covers burn in).

I think it's better to buy an open box OLED from Best Buy because it comes with the full manufacturer warranty and it's easy to return.

Thanks! I thought the 55" refurb at $946 wasn't a good deal either because Microcenter had the 65" refurb for $999.99 (that deal just expired).

Microcenter was never a good deal. First, not everyone can drive to a microcenter. Second, you have to physically pick up the TV. No delivery.

Ive had great luck with my Hisense 55 and 75 u8k. I also have an LG C3 65 and Id say the hisense is on par with the LG for much cheaper

I beg to differ. I have both the C3 and the U8K as well, and there's no comparison. nothing compares to OLED.

These are great TVs but I personally wouldn't pull the trigger here. You'll be able to buy the same TV new at the same price or just a hair more very soon if not now. Being refurbished, I'd much rather buy from BB because I trust the process with them if something goes wrong moreso than most other retailers. These are really nice though. I've got a 55" C2 (basically the same TV) and I can't watch on anything else without thinking about how much better it would look on my TV.

Was there any way to check availability, or did you just find it?

I bought it blind online- it's absolutely fine. There are a few small imperfections but I barely notice it. Well worth the price- apparently the Geek Squad warranty covers in-home service on TVs 42" or larger so if there's an issue they'll probably just come over and exchange for a new one.

42" OLED as a PC monitor without some sort of burn-in coverage is really just asking for trouble. I suspect mine will eventually have burn-in because I use it as my daily driver. I do hide the taskbar, auto-shift the display, etc, hopefully that will minimize it somewhat.
