I'll make my usual post about this fairly common deal: baby's first Hue lights. These have many uses, but they don't do the things most people associate with Hue: change color or color temperature. These are locked at 2700K. In the app, you can dim them, make them flicker like a candle, or set timers and automations. Like all Hue bulbs, they can be incorporated into a smart home in many creative ways.

Just make sure you know what you're getting into. And don't buy the two pack. You get your SD card revoked if you do.

Honestly, depends on the location.
Garage, attic, and outside lights I'm fine with just white

Agreed. White Ambiance or Color is a must IMO.

Darn. Only 800 lumens which equates to 60 incandescent watts. I prefer 90-100w equivalent.

Also Philips light bulbs require a "smart" bridge. For me it wasn't so smart causing me to spend a couple of hours setting them up and then periodically I would lose control over the lights and have to power cycle the bridge. I had several Philips light bulbs and ended up tossing them all away.

I use Alexa. The Amazon Basics Smart bulbs are incredibly easy to use with Alexa - auto found/added; no extra phone app/no registration required/etc. I liked them so much I ended up ripping a couple of gosuno plug controlled lightbulbs as well and replaced them with Amazon (plugs were much better then Philips but still hang periodically).

This is going to completely depend on your home layout too; The Hue stuff is one of the only things that's worked consistently for me. All my other zigbee or zwave lights I've thrown out.

It's either dumb bulbs with Acura no-neutral light switches, or dumb switches and hue bulbs.

You don't need the bridge with the newer Hue bulbs that have Bluetooth as long as you have 10 or fewer.

Wish I'd seen this before buying into Philips ecosystem. The bridge sucks, must be hard wired directly into router.
Control is also spotty. I have Hue lights connected to Alexa with the stupid bridge and additional app taking space on my phone. And these Alexa bulbs are so CHEAP for color!
